"Fête de la Musique" in DC

Donation protected
La “Fête de la Musique” is an international event started in France in 1982. On the first day of summer, France traditionally celebrates musique, life and freedom.

The Alliance Française de Washington DC,  a non-profit organization (501c3),  is the French language and cultural center in the Greater Washington area. As we like to say to partners and visitors, “The Alliance Française is the French Heart Beat of the Nation’s Capital.”

Last year, the Alliance Française brought  Fete de La Musique  to Dupont Circle with more than 7 hours of  FREE non-stop music for the whole family. More than 2,000 people attended, enjoyed, and danced!

For the 35th anniversary of Fête de la Musique , the Alliance Française intends to produce again this French festival on Tuesday, June 21 because it is important that Washington DC be part of this now world-wide musical phenomenon.

The world has changed a lot in the past year. But Alliance Française strongly believes that now more than ever life needs to be enjoyed: we must sing,  play music, dance, laugh and stand up for culture and liberty.

Understandably, the City of Washington DC has tightened its regulations and requirements for security, especially outdoor spaces.

The safety – and comfort – of Fête de la Musique’s  attendees and musicians is the Alliance Française’s priority.  However, the additional security expenses will make the festival more expensive to produce than originally anticipated.

As a non-governmental non-profit (501c3),  the Alliance Francaise de Washington  does not receive funds or subsidies from any government.  For the first time ever, it needs your help to produce this event.

Your participation in this campaign will help us fund:
-          The sound system & technicians
-          The additional security

If you would like to help maintain fete de la Musique in Washington DC, join the Alliance Francaise’s crowd-funding campaign… All levels of donations accepted because as the French saying goes: “les petits ruisseaux font les grandes rivières”.
