Zack Paben Healthcare

On August 25, 2009, Zackary Paben experienced his first acute pancreatitis attack. This fall, 2 weeks before the Spartan Beast in Carolinas he suffered his second attack and spent days in the hospital with what could have been a fatal episode. Days after being released he returned to racing on behalf of More Heart Than Scars , a charity he founded to help individuals struggling with a variety of mental and physical health issues. This race was dedicated to helping a quadriplegic friend complete a Spartan Trifecta. A couple of days after the race, Zack was re-admitted to the hospital when the symptoms and pain returned.

Combined with lost income from missing work, the healthcare bills have accumulated to a level beyond which he and his family can pay. Other preventative measures and treatments have been put on hold because of the costs involved. For Those Who Would , a 501(c)(3) non-profit, whose mission is to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those suffering from injury or illness, has embarked on an official campaign to assist Zack with hospital bills and treatments.  Most importantly, we want him to receive necessary future treatments to prevent the acute pancreatitis attacks from becoming chronic and potentially fatal. All funds raised through this campaign will go toward his healthcare costs.

Zack has sacrificed career advancement and personal income in order to dedicate his time to helping others. Because of his sacrifices, he is in a situation in which others can now make a big difference in his life.
