Exploding Fish 10th Anniversary
We're really excited to announce a super special Exploding Fish ten year reunion!
In brief:
When? July 27th - 29th. (Main activities on the 28th)
Where? Aberystwyth!

In detail:
As you all may know, earlier this year Exploding Fish took its final bow closed its doors after a commendable 10 years of workshops, devised projects, street theatre and general shenanigans around Aberystwyth.
Reunions have been spoken about or attempted in the past, and the general consensus is if we're to do this properly, it's now or never. A few of us have gotten together with the most recent committee to put the wheels in motion for a large scale reunion that's hopefully in advance enough for people to plan ahead, long enough to make the journey worthwhile and give ample opportunity for us to do what we want to do and, most excitingly, with cheap accommodation on offer to help make it more affordable!
Friday July 27th - Sun July 29th are the dates that have been set. (Apologies in advance if that already doesn't work for you. But we had to set a date to move forward and organise bookings). This is over a weekend too to help make it more accessible for those of us with Mon-Fri work weeks.
A timetable of events is still being worked out. But the general idea at the moment is the bulk of activities will take place on Saturday 28th, hopefully in the Old Collage, with a focus on workshops in the day to create the opportunity for us all to have some fun performing improv and playing games in a safe environment but also to meet each other and form some bridges with ExF members from different 'generations' if you will!
We want to see as many people as we can. It doesn't matter if you ran the committee or if you just came to a few workshops. Exploding Fish was all of you. It wound have been nothing without the people that witnessed andrealised it. Please share this page with anyone you can think of who might want to come.

Social (Friday 27th):
We're all going to meet up on the Friday Night for a classic ExF Social.
SEE: The interior of Aberystwyths Bars!
FEEL: The Heat of a Beach Bonfire on a Summer Night.
WITNESS: 28-year olds attempting drinking challenges intended for freshers!
Workshops (Saturday 28th):
We are thinking of allowing anyone to lead workshops. So if you have a topic you'd like to lead in a workshop (longform? Whose Line Games? Your own 1 man improv show?), then let us know in advance and we'll add everything into a timetable in an order that makes sense. The general feeling was to keep everything private and not public so as to keep the environment safe and take away any pressure that public performances might entail (some of us, after all, are 10 years rusty!)
Murder Mystery (Saturday 28th):
Once everyone is done learning we'll head to the Postgraduate Bar for a Thrilling Immersive Murder Mystery. There will be a bar, and maybe a buffet. More details to come but until then if you'd liek to either help design/organise/furnish the murder mystery or perform as one of 15 characters over the course of the night, please speak to Daniel Buck, who is writing it.

Do you have a show you've been working on, or a special talent? Maybe a memory you'd like to revisit? Let us know! It wouldn't be an Exploding Fish event if we weren't trying to do slightly too much without knowing how or indeed why.

BORING PRICE STUFF:
You can't put a price on good memories, but you can put a price on room hire and accomodation. And people have. nd we'll need to pay it. We want this event to be as cheap as possible but below are the costs we need to take per person for this to pan out.
Whole Event: £8 p/person - Pays for three days or room hire, possible catering (if we get enough people) and additional necessities and glamour.
Whole Event + Accomodation (1 Night): £45 p/person.
Whole Event + Accomodation (2 nights): £80 p/person.
FAQ:
Q: Do I have to pay for accomodation? Do I have to room with stinky Fish People?
A: Not at all. You can stay in your car, in a hotel, an AirBnB or on the top of Constitution Hill. We put the accomodation up so everyone who wants to room together can, and folks can get a good price without having to panic for a place to stay.
Q: Can We Car Share?
A: Yes! In fact we'll be putting together some manner of carshare matchmaking system in the future. Stay Tuned.
Q: Can I bring a +1? Will I have to pay for them?
A: We'd love to meet your +1's and they are free to join in and take part in all the fun. You don't have to pay additional accomodation for anyone you are comfortable sharing a single bed with, but we'd appreciate it if they could contribute to the event cost, even if it's just a little.
Q: What if we go over/underbudget?
A: We at Exploding Fish have a good track record of havign a fun time on a shoestring. The prices above are inteded to cover essentials with a small buffer for emergencies. We are't going to splash out on Balloon Fountains or T-Shirt Cannons or buckets of blood for "Carrie"-ing people with.
If you want to donate extra: say to open a bar tab or buy food for the barbecue, we'll all sloppily hug you for it on the night. Likewise if people want to pay for someone else to attend, specificaly or generally, we'll love you for it.
If we have money left over at the end, we'll reimburse people based on what they paid. Promise.
Q: Will (x person I had a crush on/feud with five years ago) be there?
A: I Hope so! I'm gonna address this one up front. Some of the most potent friendships I have known took place at ExF. Like any diverse group of creative, opinionated and outspoken people not-everyone agreed all the time.
There are a lot of emotions attached to people we once knew, and may not have seen in a long time. I am not going to let that stop me from greeting them with smiles and maybe a few tears once again. I hope it won't stop you either. At the end of all things we put a lot of work into making somehting amazing together. We all deserve to celebrate that.
