So here it is! To all of you who have asked how to support curious little students in Kongo village?
You know that inspiring feeling when everyone in class has their nose in a textbook? Our followers and supporters already know the challenges our little future doctors, lawyers, scientists have! Can you imagine, there are classrooms in Kongo village that only have a textbook or two to share between all the kids? This means that all the curious minds can’t fully take part of the school work every day and have to wait for a long time to get answers to their burning questions! We need more textbooks!
There are schools under Mango and Shea trees in Kongo village, with no textbooks nor classrooms. Teachers have to work extra hard and be so creative to explain every lesson without any help at all! The kindest teacher I have ever met is teaching under one of those trees and she only has one book! Despite all she is hopeful and sure that somehow she will manage. This is exactly why I admire her so much, without knowing the exact steps, she still goes toward whats right!
Almost a year ago, my good friend Anne-Mai did an incredible thing, she organized a fundraise and collected enough money to buy 1,000 text books (1,066 to be exact) for the kids in Kongo village!!! Can you imagine that something so simple as a book, that we in the western world take for granted, is something that so many kids in the village can't afford!
Buying just a single textbook means that one more child can actively participate in every step of their school work. And if more.. Well, there are never too many textbooks. This would mean that more kids would learn how to draw bigger connections, learn faster and get better results in the end. A perfect stepping stone for bigger dreams to come! Because we all agree that education brings freedom and creates opportunities! Every person deserves both! ❤️
FairTaleGhana partner NGO Mondo, tiny Estonian non-profit organization, has been supporting education in Kongo village since 2009! Thanks to them 140 kids are in school, who otherwise couldn’t afford it. And the great results are visible! We have many talented kids going to universities! And the graduation percent is 100! It’s explainable, these kids work hard for their dreams, they know its their only chance! Some graduated from universities and are back in the village, now teaching the next generation! I mean what could be more awesome than that!
We want to support and be part of this amazing transformation! And now you have the opportunity to be part of this great journey! Together we can make a difference! And who knows, we might change someones future!
How this will work:
❤️ You donate. Whatever you can, even $1 is a great help! Every large endeavor has started from something small. Besides, we have 12,000 followers on Instagram and Facebook.. If everyone would donate just $1, kids would get more than 2,000 books! How awesome that would be?! (Yes, I know this sounds like a cliché but in this case it would be actually true! )
❤️ Ghana Educational Directorate along with Francis Sapaat and other local teachers will decide which schools need the textbooks the most and will order, hopefully hundreds of books after the fundraiser is over, and then we will know exactly how many kids will get their books!
❤️ And together with Victor, Francis and our partner NGO Mondo we will distribute the books in the local schools in January! Just as we did last time, we will take as many photos as possible, so that you could be part of our journey and see how good things travel & how much joy you have caused to each smart little kid! (Or 10! ) And you will understand why I have fallen in love with this beautiful village!
We have 6 weeks to make it count! We have 6 weeks to make it count! Average textbook costs around $5. One curious mind can study from it for a whole year and pass it on to the next kid the following year! Books are used for at least 5 years! Just imagine how much positive impact each $5 donation can create!
Educational officers in Ghana are here and watch the fundraiser. It will all be out here in the public and every $ will be counted. 100% percent goes to buying books! Not a single $ goes towards covering expenses! All expenses will be covered by FairTaleGhana and all the checks will be published here so that you can be sure that every single $ goes exactly where it should go! And that is for buying textbooks!
