Any questions about DONATIONS please contact me (Erika's father) at:
Its been a emotional two days. On Sunday August 22, Viv had a MRI to see what was the cause of her brain swelling. Monday morning, the team of Doctors and nurses met with us to discuss the results. The team has been doing a super job helping Viv. The doctors inform us that as of today, they do not believe that Viv will recover from her injuries. The doctors said that there was a lot of damage to her brain from the loss of oxygen and lack of blood flow. The doctors said that there is about 1% chance of her recovering, and it would take a miracle. That is what we are praying for and will continue to pray for. We are not going up as long as Viv continues to fight. We are going to seek out other opinions form other neurosurgeons. If anyone knows any or can reach out to any neurosurgeons we would forever be great full. The doctors are going to do several operations to treat her 3rd degree burns. She had a surgery Monday afternoon that was successful and she made it though. Now we must prepare ourselves for this long road ahead. I can not express in words how great full I am for the compassion everyone has shown. I want to say THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart and may god bless everyone.
Please contact the Shriner's Children's Hospital in Philadelphia! They help children burn victims. My dad has been a Shriner for over 30 years and they advocate on behalf of children. It is completely free of charge and they will even drive you to the hospital. I have sent Erika a message on FB and I will leave my contact info here 443-279-8608
North Point Yacht Club, where Erikas grandfather and other relatives belong, is taking donations. At this point in 30 minutes last night, we raised $1,500. I will be placing it here next week, once everyone has a chance to pitch in from the club. Prayer for Little Viv.
Mary Brenner, please kindly take your comments and idiotic attitude and go somewhere else. As a mother of three children I can honestly say I have ran out to my car in the driveway many times as my children were napping to retrieve an item when they were younger knowing in my heart nothing would happen, or at least believing that. Things happen and I am positive this woman did not expect anything like this would happen to her. I pray this baby girl and mother recover fully, I pray for the dear puppy that gave his life to save this child , I pray for this family that peace is coming in the near future and Mary Brenner I pray that God has mercy on your soul and that he finds it in his heart to forgive you for the nasty comments and ill will you have cast upon this poor family.
Just read an article about the fire. I am a Shriner in St. Louis. Please contact the Shriners Hospitals for Children ASAP. The operate four burn centers in the US. We are leaders in the field. Their phone number is (800) 850-2960. You can also go to them at www.Shrinershospitalsforchildren.org I sincerely hopes this helps you and your family and wish her the best possible recovery. Most Sincerely yours, Tony Leech St. Louis MO
Rehaks are an awesome family. Thanks so much. Erika is such a wonderful person and a great mother. No one ever deserves to go thru what she is going thru. Please continue to pray for both of them. RIP Polo you are a HERO. Viviana loved polo so much. Anytime she was playing he was right next to her. They were best buds. He will be missed.
My family owns Edgemere's Icy Delights (next to Food Lion) and yes I will gladly accept any donations of clothing, diapers, toys etc for Viv and Erika. We have a large building on site with a lot of storage, my girls who are working are aware of this and have been told to place them safe and sound in our storage area. Thank you so much it's amazing to see so many people doing all they can to help this family in their time of need.
Praying for your little angel! I do have a suggestion for those wanting to donate. Go fund me takes a pretty good percentage of what people donate for themselves. I would recommend local people speak to someone in the family that could set up an account at one of their local banks where all the money you raise will go directly to the family. There are also alot of credit unions that will open an account for as little as $5.00 its much better than having a huge chunk taken out that will not even be given to the family...just a thought. God bless all who are donating and God bless this little girl her parents and family and friends and RIP Polo your a hero!!
The stand is open 7 days a week, 12pm-9pm. The address is 7526 North Point Rd. Edgemere 21219 Edgemeres Icy Delights (next to Food Lion). Please advise the girls working you're there for a donation drop off and they will place the items in our storage area. Thank you to everyone in advance who will make any form of a donation they're so lucky to have so many that care.
DONATION DROP OFF. If anyone wants to donate clothing, diapers...anything for Erika and/or Viv, You can drop them off on my porch @ 7230 Gough street. I lived next store to Erika for the past few years. I will be sure to store them & give them to Erika & Viv. My number is 443-979-4905 if you would like to make arrangements to drop something off. Please keep both of them in your prayers.
This is very sad! My thoughts and prayers for Mom Erika, precious Viv and their hero, Polo. Joe (Erika's father) and/or Sara N Billy,: I do have a suggestion...You should include, just below your summary story, (which can be edited) Erika & Viv's sizes, a current list of what is needed, the locations to drop off the donations and any other pertinent information. This will help everyone that cannot spend the time to read the previous comments, and as the comments grow it will become even more difficult to find those answers. Not to mention, how it will help you from having to re-post the same information over and over. (I do know you have added some of this info. in the updates, but again, most people will only read the story) One final thing I'd like to suggest to the family is opening up a bank account for any further donations . This can be done in Erika's name if you have her (or have her sign) power of attorney . This would eliminate the fees being charged on funds collected by other means...which takes me to... Lori, the woman that collected money at the Yacht Club: Please DO NOT put that money here as a 5% fee & a 3% processing fee will immediately be deducted!! I'd certainly hate to see that 8% taken from the family! Please contact the family regarding an alternate, and fee free, plan. God Bless you all & I pray for a complete & speedy recovery of this precious little girl and her beautiful mommy! N
"She is burned on 19% of her body and is not awake as they are doing a lot of testing . They lost EVERYTHING." You didn't lose EVERYTHING. Yes maybe all of these earthly possessions that mean nothing. You have another day to live and love, and you have each other. And with lots of prayers, and help from the community (doctors, friends, family, support), Viv will pull through this. You will love harder and be a better person because you will see what matters the most to you. Tragedies sometimes brings the best out of people, unfortunately and fortunately. I had a house fire a few years ago and almost lost 1 of my daughters (18 mo. old at time), and I have 9 kids. My husband kept going back and forth into the house to save her. He found her!!! Both of them suffered burns, but I can't express the joy that I have now with them realizing how easy loved ones can be taken from you at any moment. He is my hero and she is my Forever Princess. This will just be another chapter in your life, the rough chapter, but you will have more to your story in your future that will bring happiness and smiles. Again, I pray for both of you through these hard times, and that the shinning light of happiness will come soon.
