Equip First Responders In Uganda
Donation protected
On November 24th, a party boat on Lake Victoria capsized claiming over 30 lives. The first responders mainly consisted of fishermen who have lived their entire lives next to the water body. These fishermen also first responders (as defined by their effort) were able to save lives despite the meager resources. One brave first responder, Bosco Owecho ( May his soul RIP) risked his life not once but multiple times to bring party revelers ashore. The last time he went back in an attempt to save more lives, he never returned.
This Go Fund Me has been created in his memory and in an effort to ensure that this selfless act is rewarded. As a first responder myself, I applaud Mr. Owecho’s altruism and heroism and would like to continue his work by soliciting funds to ensure that we (Ugandans) are better equipped to respond to an emergency of this nature should it reoccur. In an emergency, every second counts.
Funds from this campaign will be used to equip all first responders with;
1) Life jackets, rescue boats and efficient first aid equipment
2) Life saving techniques (Basic Life Support, CPR)
3) Ambulances and/or vehicles to the nearest health facilities
4) Water safety classes amongst others
5) Create first response videos and teaching material in all dialects including pertinent information that prolongs life before expert help arrives.

We pray for the families and friends that lost their loved ones but we must also ensure that this incident does not repeat itself. We apologize for highlighting this incident at this time as you grieve the loss of your loved ones.
Thank you Mr. Bosco Owecho (RIP) and others for risking your lives to save as many people as you could. We intend to continue the work you have started.
