Beverly Epps-Blackwell is the mother of 2016 Track and Field Triple Jump Olympian Christina Epps of Morristown, NJ. We are raising funds to send Beverly and her husband Kevin Blackwell to Rio.
Morristown, NJ is diverse community, rich in history touting famous greats such as George Washington and The Continental Army, the wedding venue of Alexander Hamilton and now 2016 Olympian Christina Epps. We are "Morristown Proud" of her, and want to support her on her road to victory in Rio during the 2016 Olympic Games.
Christina is a 2009 graduate of Morristown High School and a 2013 graduate of Coppin State University where she majored in Psychology. Prior to earning a spot on the 2016 Olympic Team, Christina had several other Triple Jump successes such the World Championships (2016 - 10th place), and the Pan American Games (2015 - 7th place). Given all of the above what mother wouldn't be proud and want to live these moments with her daughter, literally -- "step by step" and "jump by jump". This is where you can help Beverly Epps by sending her to the Olympic Games in Rio.
An extremely quiet and humble person, Beverly would never ask for help raising the money needed for the costly travel and stay in Rio on her own. She would just as proudly turn on her television and watch the games, screaming so loudly as she cheered for her daughter that all of Morristown could hear. If it were someone else she knew in this same situation as she currently finds herself in, she would first pray "God is going to make a way", do her part in giving, and have faith that God will provide and make a way. As it currently stands, she'll have to watch her daughter from that television set . . . But I know personally as a Morristownian -- WE CAN DO BETTER!
How your funds will be used:
The cost for airfare alone is over $5,000, and then there are the hotel costs for a stay that is dependent upon how far along the Olympian advances in their event. We are expecting OLYMPIC GOLD so we need to keep Beverly in a hotel long enough to watch her daughter step onto the Podium and receive her medal.
1. A beneficiary account will be set up in Kevin Blackwell's name .
2. This will allow 100% of the money donated to be directly transferred to Kevin by electronic funds .
Although the event will be televised globally, Beverly and Kevin want to personally thank each one of you who gave by sending a video clip of her while she is at the Rio games.
Now we act in haste, the Olympic games start on Friday, August 5th, 2016, which means we have less than 2 weeks to raise the funds so that she and her husband can purchase their airfare, reserve their hotel and have access to the Olympic events.
