E-DOT Erin's Dog Obedience Training
Donation protected
I am raising money to fix up our barn. God blessed us with a new house this past September and on this property is a 1500 sq. ft. barn that we have started renovating to be a dog training facility. This barn would be a place to train dogs and have classes. My vision is to have the builiding completely climate controlled, no more freezing our tushies off in a building not properly heated, no more shedding pounds of sweat in a building not properly air conditined. A space that doesn't have lights buzzing or loud noises to disturb the classes. There is also a half mile hiking trails to practice loose leash walking!
My husband and I have put most of our savings into the barn already and have completed the roof (complete tear off needed), a lean-to (for the things needed to put in storage), and have bought duct work, insulation, and framing materials. And now, we need your help. We need money for the labor of installing all of the above mentioned materials. We need money for siding, drywall, windows and doors. We need money for a floor and training mats (right now it is gravel). We need money for lights, fans and electrical materials. We need your help.

The more training taking place, the greater potential for less dogs dropped at shelters, happier marriages and safer kids. Every donation, every dollar is appreciated and needed. If not for me, do it for the dogs that will potentially get reached and families that come for help. They need us.

Here's a little more about me and my cause:
My name is Erin Marie Nelson. I am a 31 year old woman and have been an animal lover all of my life. I am a wife and mother. I have been a house painter for over 17 years and a dog trainer for over 10. I love dogs. If you know me, you know this. But for those of you who don't know me, let me just express a little about my feelings towards our fellow canine inhabitants.
The unconditional love dogs give is such an example to us. If we could only figure out how to love as well as they do, this world would be such a better place. Their loyalty, their friendship, their goofiness, and their protection are just a few of the amazing attributes they have. Dogs truly give so much and ask for so little in return. There were seasons in my life where for whatever reasons people failed me, but my canine companions were always there.
My first dog was a Toy Fox Terrier Mix that my parents gave me when I was 10 years old with the promise that I would do everything to care for her. I never brought her to classes, never taught her how to heel correctly on a leash. But she could be off leash and stay close by; she knew sit and down, roll over and beg. She knew dance and jump and always came when called. She was remarkable.
When I got my second dog, a Pit Bull Mix, I decided to try an obedience class and instantly found where I belonged. I became an assitant trainer in a short four months and graduated to a full fledged trainer one year after that. My fellow trainers were amazing and I loved being able to pet and work with all sorts of breeds. I also thoroughly enjoyed helping people. I love when they have that "got it" moment and it just clicks. It is truly a beautiful thing!
