Help Keep Me from Eviction
Hi! I'm Amanda, aka Penguin, Dragon, etc...
I'm in grad school, finishing it up, launching other things, and trying to find work. I've been unemployed for over a year, skating by on school funds and friends and family. I've applied for jobs and getting almost no interviews.
I just finally revamped (in a huge way) my cover letter, which I think was the culprit. I've had several folks look at my resume and tell me that other than a few teeny things, it's perfectly fine. It had to be that letter. It has now been overhauled. I've applied, as of today (10/25), to one place for a job in my field of study. I'll keep applying to more jobs with the new letter and resume.
But no matter if I get an interview for some amazing job tomorrow, or even get the job by the end of the week, it won't help in time for rent. The delay on first paychecks is always longer than I need them to be.
What money I get will go to the following:
$750 - rent to keep a roof over mine and my cats heads.
$189 for storage (although, if I do get a job soon, I can delay that and just pay late)
$40 - cat food and litter
$.... whatever is left over will go to human food.
I've also managed to delay my power getting shut off until late November, but I do need to give them money before 11/21.
Most urgent is rent, cat supplies and human food. Then electric and water bills (my water bill is tiny, so it's just a matter of tossing $15 or so at them, electric is more).
