Dave Versus the Volcano and Lava

Dave, his wife Denise and their son Al have lived in Leilani Estates, Hawaii since he built them their dream home fourteen years ago. Fissures, fumes and lava forced a reluctant emergency evacuation.  Now, as lava continues to flow with no end in sight, odds are against them having a home to return to at all.   A short time after evacuation, Dave and Denise returned to retrieve bare essentials and personal belongings.   Dave went out onto their deck to assess the lava flow.  He lost his footing and fell twenty feet onto the hard ground below.   While Dave somehow miraculously survived the fall, he suffered two broken wrists, both collar bones, and a broken neck. Currently paralyzed from the chest down and still in the ICU, he has a long road ahead in the hospital followed by extensive rehabilitation.  Needless to say, Dave will be out of work indefinitely. Denise has been at his side 24/7 since the fall and will need to care for him around the clock when he eventually returns home.
