Danny L Wayne - Stroke Recovery
Donation protected
Hello. My name is Shirley Wayne, wife of Danny Lee Wayne. I was out of town last weekend (Oct 14 - 16th). When I arrived home Sunday morning, Danny was face down not moving on the bathroom floor. I immediately called 911. They arrived within 3 minutes and took him to Froedtert Hospital. They did a CT scan and immediately discovered that he had a brain stem stroke. This type of stroke affects the major organs of the body such as the heart and lungs. By Monday morning, he crashed and went into septic shock. After laying on the floor for an undetermined amount of time, they figured he had aspirated (swallowed his own vomit) which had caused severe double lung pneumonia. After an EKG and echo cardio gram of his heart it was discovered that his heart was only beating at approximately 35% of its capacity. IVs were started (17 in all) because all of his organs were affected somehow or another. Tuesday brought a fever of 104 and he was considered critical and very unstable. A long week ensued. It is now Sunday October 23rd, and I was told today that he is no where ready to come out of the ICU yet.
Danny is an extremely intelligent man, who recently completed his Masters degree in Business Administration and was looking forward to new employment. Although not a veteran himself he was an avid war historian, and had great respect for all five branches of the military. He was an avid reader of history books of any kind, and his favorite channel was the history channel.
After being married and together for many years we were looking forward to our future.
Your donations would help us defray medical costs and high deductions. Most of all our biggest concern is the months or years of rehabilitation that Danny is facing. With a brain stem stroke, nearly all large muscle groups are affected - meaning he will need to learn to sit up, walk and talk all over again. Danny may never regain the ability to have gainful employment, which would take a great strain on our finances.
Asking for for help has always been hard for me, and probably even harder on Danny. He doesn't know I have set up this fund, and probably would be unhappy if he knew but I feel it is a necessity.
Your donation of $5, $25 or $100 would ease the burden for us. I am employed full time but have to share my time between the office and checking on Danny in the hospital during the day and evening.
Any assistance toward Danny’s medical bills would be greatly appreciated.
much love and peace...
