Daina DePrez's Road to Recovery

Thank you for taking the time to visit this page. I am Felicia, Daina’s daughter and Noelle her daughter in law. Our beloved mom and mother-in-law, Daina DePrez, is taking a break from music. This is not by choice, but as a requirement by her doctors.

My mom’s problems started back in January, when she thought she was having a heart attack. I took her into the ER, they did the usual blood test and it came back that she was not having a heart attack. She then went in for a stress test and it showed that her heart was good. She continued to have severe back pain that radiated to her chest and arms so she continued going to the Doctor and Chiro to figure out what this pain was. It was determined that she has a couple of bulging discs in her upper back. Pain meds were given and PT was ordered and the back pain slowly started to get better over the weeks and months. She would still have “episodes” where her back would flare up but the pain was being managed.

On Monday June 20th, she had had terrible back pain all night. She decided to go to the ER again on Tuesday morning to see if they could help with the pain because it had become unbearable.  She was actually having a major heart attack and needed open heart surgery.  Her doctors told her that her severe back pain that she had been experiencing since January was not caused by bulging discs but instead from a series of mini heart attacks that have now caused her heart to be very weak.

After quintuple bypass surgery and the replacement of a heart valve, Daina is now on the path to a long recovery. It is unknown exactly how long she will be unable to work, but her doctors are telling her that it will be at least 2-3 months before she is able to perform again. With Daina being self-employed being out of work for 2-3 months will be a very big hardship and very stressful.

We would like to take some of that stress away and raise money to help her in paying medical bills, her house payment and utilities. This will enable her to concentrate on getting better!  Any and all donations are appreciated and help more than you know.  

Once she is fully recovered, Daina plans on being back up on that stage doing what she loves most.
