Hi, my name is Desiré Hudson and I am raising money for a volunteer's experience of a lifetime as well as college credits towards my education at College of DuPage.
After a long arduous process, I have gratefully been accepted as one of the fourteen volunteers with the Loop Abroad program at the Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai, Thailand scheduled during May of 2016.
During this two week trip I will help with the preservation and care of about 40 rescued elephants. These incredible animals come from various backgrounds in which they have either been mistreated or have lived an oppressed lifestyle. Food preparations, feedings, bathing and other basic care necessities are some of the tasks that will be required of me to help nurture these previously abused beings.
In addition, I will also be volunteering at a dog shelter, visiting the local elementary schools, and helping with such things as planting rice in the local villages. Another great aspect of this trip will be to visit with Buddhist monks, and view Golden Temples atop Doi Suthep, an opportunity not afforded to many women.
Your donation, no matter the amount, will afford me to help these elephants, dogs, some children and villagers and will be my first trip out of the country. I have made a down payment and continue to save, but am still in need of financial help to fund the rest of my trip.
Thank you for your time, and I sincerely hope that even if you are not able to donate to my trip, you consider the importance of animal conservation in our generation, and may find an opportunity to somehow help animals in the future.
