Funds allocation:

- 80% of the gathered funds will be distributed to the 4 charities that best align with my vision and passion towards nature: SeaLegacy , The Sierra Club Foundation , Oceans Conservancy  & One Percent for the Planet

 - 1.5% of the funds will go to cover the cost of using GoFundMe fees for the use of services  (these fees are applied when they transfer the money).

-18.5% will be used to create a photographic book from this journey. 100% of the profits from that book will go straight to the charities previously mentioned. Essentially your donation will contribute, not ones but as many times as the book is sold. This is how we create lasting change!

- 0% of the funds will go to cover me. This trip was self funded.

Start & end dates:

Having completed the journey in 51 days (2001km) I am now left to write the actual book. I am estimating about 6 months before I have it done. However I will be closing the donations at the end of November 2018.  Cruising the Aurora will be available for sale around April 2019.

How to watch the journey?

If you would like to see the whole journey, you can do so by going to my IGTV  on my  Instagram @antonio.cabrero  where i have done a compilation of all the stories of this adventure. If you missed the posts related to the adventure you can refer to the hashtag #CruisingTheAurora

If you love nature and believe this is a worthy cause please share it with those you love.

Thank you for your time and your support! It is deeply appreciated!

Yours,

Antonio

Hello Everyone!

I want to start of first by saying thank you for your initial support on this project. Since its already been a month since I finished the journey, I wanted to let you guys know that I will be closing the donations at the end of this month (November 2018). That said I would like to invite you to help me get the last word out for this project. Lets try to get as close as possible to the goal.

I am extremely humbled by the support you all have already shown. Also the current funds raised is already an impressive amount. I just want to say thank you one more time and wish you all the best.

Thanks for the on going support

Much love,
Antonio

I am happy to announce that 1 week ago I finished the journey to Lofoten.

In case you weren't following my intsagram stories, Once I reached Trondheim I had to stop cycling due to bad weather. Leaving me at 1,700km traveled. I Talked to several locals, the tourist information and the trekking association and all of them said it was not a good idea for me to press on. At that point I thought I had to give up on cycling all the way to Lofoten. I ended up taking a train to Bodo and then a ferry to Moskenes in Lofoten.

Once there I didn't feel proud about being there. I felt like I didn't achieve the goal I set for myself nor for the project. I took about 12 days off traveling with a friend who I met in Trondheim. After she left my mind was still spinning with at least reaching the 2,000km, after all it was only 300km left.

So I went back to Svolvaer to finish the distance. After i made a deal with my Couchsurfing host to let me stay until I finished my goal. I am happy to say I did. (This is the picture of the day after)

I want to thank all of you for your support, however we are not done. We are only half way there. Now, I must write the book ,gather, select and edit all the pictures. This means the donations are still open. I hope to have the book done by April 2019 where it will be up for sale.

Thanks again everyone for your support. Please help spread the word of Cruising the Aurora. Now, it is up to you to help me see through this project's donation goal.

All the best,
Antonio

Tomorrow I start to make my way to the Lofoten Islands. I found a way to route my bicycle route and found out that Googles estimate was terribly wrong. The distance to cover now is of 3,621 km. Almost double the previously estimated distance!! But don't worry I am still doing this! The funds goal will remain the same, but the distance has now doubled.

I'm so excited! Let's begin!

Antonio

PS: here is the bicycle route for those curious

It came to my attention that there has been a fee change in GoFundMe not requiring me to pay 6-8% of the total funds raised. WHICH IS AMAZING, more money will be then allocated to the charities.

Fund allocation will change as follows:

85% to the charities
15% for the making of the book

*A video update will be soon uploaded

Thank you for your support!
