Super Cooper Fund

Donation protected
Update: Cooper was flown to VCU on Tuesday, October 4th as Hurricane Matthew approached the east coast. The Youngs are back at home but little Cooper's fight continues. April will not be returning to her job as an eighth grade English teacher until February. Her leave time ran out on October 21st and she will be without a paycheck until she returns to work. Phil returned to work on Friday, 10/28. He will be working as much overtime as possible to accrue leave hours for when the family is finally together under their own roof. Unfortunately, this will negatively impact Phil's paychecks for the next few months.

Even though the Young family is home, Cooper's medical bills continue to mount. April and Phil will continue to be by Cooper's side in the NICU. Any donation, great or small, would be very much appreciated by the Young family.

Original Campaign Information:

April and Phil Young were expecting their sweet baby boy to arrive near the end of November 2016. Unbeknownst to them, the baby had other plans. During their vacation on Edisto Island, South Carolina in August, April's water broke. After a trip to The Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, the doctors told her that she would have to remain in the hospital until the baby was born and that their goal would be to keep him in the womb for 9 weeks to give him the best chance. Apparently, Cooper didn't want to wait that long to see Charleston. In the early hours of August 20, 2016, Cooper Philip Young came into the world at 1 lb. 15 ozs by emergency C section. Cooper is doing as well as can be expected, but he has a long way to go. He is a fighter and is doing his best to get stronger each day. That being said, Cooper will probably be in the hospital until the end of November and April and Phil will be right there by his side. As of right now they are staying at the local Comfort Inn close to the hospital. I cannot imagine the stress and worry they are going through right now. They have enough stress on them without having to worry about hotel fees, medical bills, and other incidentals. April is a committed teacher and Phil is a career firefighter. They have spent their careers giving back and helping others. Please help us raise some extra money for this wonderful couple and their sweet baby Cooper.
