My nephew Tim Gamber is the bravest, kindest, most considerate, and least complaining human being I have ever met.
Tim is a U.S. Army Vet, a former high school basketball coach, and a man who volunteered and continues to assist those in need whenever possible.
Ten years ago Tim's life changed dramatically when he was diagnosed with a rare form of Lukemia, a type rarely seen in adults, and it was the precluder for the many health challenges he continues to battle to this day.
Tim has never complained, he is the eternal optimist, who answers every query about his health with, "I can't complain, I'm still upright!".
However Tim has just received the devastating news that he once again has cancer and the prognosis is not great. His battles through endless surgeries, chemotherapy sessions, radiation, drugs etc., have taken a devastating toll on his body , and his team of specialists have little left to offer.
Tim's body may have been devastated by the ravages of cancer and the battles he has fought, but his spirit as always is fierce and unwelding.
Tim shall fight this battle as he has every other; be it for his country as a soldier in the U.S. Army, a coach on the basketball court, or a cancer patient.
The reason I have shared his story is simple: Tim has an Army Pension of $1000 a month, and his medication is $800 a month. You don't have to be a genius to know that his living expenses have had to be suplimented by the little savings he had, support from family, and close friends.
It's becoming increasingly difficult to meet his monthly basic needs and the stress of worrying how he will pay his bills or afford his medication is one I believe he does not need to shoulder.
I have included some photos of this incredible young man, and also a copy of a Facebook post he himself wrote.
I am so honoured to know him and to call him nephew, right from the first time I met him, on vacation as a fourteen year old who had this sweet little four year old smile up at me and give hugs and kisses in abundance.
I'm sure Tim is the type of guy you would love to have a coffee with, share a beer with, or to go to lunch with and just sit, chat, be amazed and warmed by his bright personality and endless bravery. Unfortunately he can't do most of those things at present, but you could use that time and money to instead lessen just a little of the financial burden he deals with daily.
I thank you truly from the bottom of my heart for reading this, and for any support you may give. And who knows, maybe we can all meet for that coffee or beer with Tim someday in the future.
