Clean Water For Flint
I'm not changing this up to address bathing and hygiene needs. We are receiving bottled water donations from around the country but people are afraid to bathe. So in order to avoid bacterial issues, we are looking for donations for:
-Personal hygiene wipes
-and similar items.
On a personal note, we've been delivering supplies and water for quite some time and would like to continue to do so. I'm personally on sick leave from work due to the water so I am unable to foot the bill like I have been. Thank you for understanding. -Melissa Mays
"We feel Flint deserves the best water source, one that is safe and consistent," said Harris, who is also the pastor at Saints of God Church. "That is our thesis, and we won't back down from it."
That's what we are fighting for. Due to the mounting health issues and new DEQ & EPA violations as well as the current ones, we have filed injunctions and lawsuits to demand the MDEQ test and monitor properly. We've had to legally force them to do their jobs. In the meantime, we are paying the highest bills in the nation for the lowest quality of water. We need safe water and cannot drink or cook with our tap water until the EPA proves the water is safe when it comes to TTHMs, Lead, Copper, Sediment, Bacteria and other contaminants.
We need cleaning supplies. Bacterial infections are spread when proper hygiene isn't used. We are too afraid to use our taps for brushing our teeth or even washing our hands. We need hand sanitizer, baby wipes and other bathing alternatives.
And we need help informing our neighbors since the State has not sent out a mailer telling people not to drink the water. All the info we have sent out has been printed out of our own pockets.
Clean, Safe, Affordable Water is all we're demanding and have been for months. It's sad that we have to go legal with it, but we have no other options since our voices have been ignored. WE ARE NOT GUINEA PIGS!!
THANK YOU for your support and sharing in our fight!
Multiple activist and support groups, churches, community organizations, concerned citizens and more have joined together to form the Coalition for Clean Water. The goal of the group is to fight for safe, clean, and affordable water for Flint citizens.

That's what we are fighting for. We are going to legally force the city to go back to Detroit water supply that Genesee County is receiving at 1/3 of the monthly cost to consumers as the Flint River. We want to stay on Detroit's safe, consistent supply until the city implements all of the necessary changes and updates to our water plant and proves the water is safe when it comes to TTHMs, Lead, Copper, Sediment, Bacteria and other contaminants. Clean, Safe, Affordable Water is all we're demanding and have been for months. It's sad that we have to go legal with it, but we have no other options since our voices have been ignored. The root of Flint's problem is its bankruptcy, caused by the Clintons' consistently disasterous trade policy. The Clinton Foundation that got rich from "contributions" from those profitting from bankrupting America, transnational corporate CEOs, foreign governments and dictators... should at least pay the $55 million to replace the most toxic household pipes. Especially when Chelsey just paid over $10 million for an apartment.
I'm trying to get in touch with someone to suggest an idea that might make living in Flint bearable until they can shower at home again. #billionsinchange has a water purification system that is not expensive, filters any water (including sea water) to pure drinking water and does 1000 liters an hour! I thought if you could get some of these set up in Flint people could refill water containers AND be able to take real showers. I'd be SO happy for that if I were stuck there. Please look Manoj Bhargov up on youtube - Good luck!
Is this still active? My business and I want to donate but unsure if you guys are still accepting money and where is it going toward?
According to billions for change websites @Amy Sheppeck..that will not work. Good suggestion though...the below is taken from their FAQ's Does Rain Maker remove lead, and could it be a solution to the water contamination crisis in Flint, Michigan? The answer is both yes and no. Rain Maker just returned from a rigorous round of testing in New Mexico, where it proved effective at removing lead from contaminated water. However, the current problem in Flint is not an issue of the source of the water being contaminated, which is the scale at which Rain Maker could potentially help. Rather, it's an issue of water infrastructure, where the pipes bringing water into homes have become corroded and are leaching lead and other toxins into the water. Rain Maker wasn't designed to address water delivery issues. Further, we have only a single prototype of Rain Maker currently. We are about to begin working to build our production line, which we plan to have up and running later this year. Category: Water
