Bob and Clay Burn Relief Fund

March 9th, 2017 Borger Fire Chief Bob Watson and Firefighter Clay Lozier were participating in a prescribed burn when a rogue fire whirl detached from the active fire and burned the two over. Both were transported by ambulance to Amarillo, and later flown to the burn center in Lubbock, Tx.
Clay Lozier suffered 2nd degree burns on his hands and minor burns on the side of his face.
Bob Watson received 2nd and 3rd degree burns on his hands and face, and more minor burns through his protective clothing along his arms and hip. He is currently undergoing skin grafting procedures.
Clay ( pictured below with his niece and nephew)has been a reliable and enthusiastic professional firefighter who has been more and more involved in wildland fire at this early onset in his career, including aggressive wildland mitigation in and around the City of Borger.
Chief Watson, (Pictured Below with his wife Shavon) has been with the City of Borger over 30 years working his way up through the ranks to the position of Chief. For the last decade he has been a leader throughout the State of Texas in wildland fire mitigation and sharing his ideas and experience with other fire departments through the region. Chief Watson also works with the National Park Service and is currently qualified as a Taskforce Leader.
Clay has been released from the burn center, however frequent follow up Dr. visits will require meals and lodging and other medical expenses.
Bob remains in the burn unit where his wife, Shevon and family have been staying in a nearby hotel.They both have a long road of recovery ahead of them.
My name is Mark Mitchell. Jason Whisler, Todd Wood and myself have worked many years with Bob and Clay through the Borger Fire Department. We have set up this fund to help relieve them and their families from some of the financial strain that could occur.
The scope of this fund to help provide what is expected to be ongoing, long term expenses for the families through the healing and recovery process such as: Lodging and Traveling Expenses, Medical Expenses and Personal Expenses that occur during time off of work.
