Hi! I'm Clare Masters. For the last few years, I have been on disability benefits (due to complications from surguries, failed back surgery (I need revision surgery in 2019),  Sjogrens Syndrome, Rheumatoid arthritis, Pheripheal neuropathy,  Fibromalygia, Seizure Disorder, Hypothyroidism, Spinal stenosis and spondylothesis
in neck and lumbar spine) until it was terminated December 31, 2015. Recently, I was recently (January 2017) diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Fibromaylgia, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Sjogrens Syndrome all cause severe pain and fatigue during a flare up .  Sjogren's Syndrome  is an autoimmune disease similar to rheumatoid arthritis, affecting the joints and moisture-producing glands. During a flare-up, I experience extreme pain, fatigue. I am on an immunosuppressant to help with the symptoms of the Sjogren's Syndrome and Rheumatoid arthritis but that also means that   I am susceptible to infections, making it nearly impossible to work or do other activities.  When I have an infection, I am not allowed to take the medication that treats the Sjogren's Syndrome and RA.
I'm currently in the process of waiting for my disability benefits to be reinstated. The disability hearing is set for December 19th.  It will take 8-12 weeks for a result.  My attorney is confident that I will win.  He doesn't get paid if I don't win.  I am expecting 5 years of back pay but Illinois has a maximum amount attorneys can receive regardless of the award amount.  I am currently looking for a place to live January 1st to the end of March when social security payments are expected to come in.  I need approximately $300 per month that covers medications not covered by insurance, vitamins and supplements, cell phone bill, student loan bill, and personal hygiene supplies.  If you look at he total amount given it's been coming in over the course of 2 years.  To live on $4000/year you have to be pretty frugal and rely on the generosity of others.  Please consider giving or helping me out with a place to stay beginning January 1st, 2019 for 3 months.  Thank you and God bless.

I am so relieved to be done with my appointments. I am grateful for the people at Mayo. They are so kind, compassionate and helpful. I am grateful that I was able to get done with my appointments in two days. I am grateful for confirmation and clarity with my situation. The cardiologist confirmed that I did in fact have a SCAD Heart Attack but not one but two arteries were involved in my heart. She also confirmed that I didn't have Fibromuscular displasia. She referred me for genetic counseling and to see a geneticist. He talked about several causes of SCAD Heart Attacks and what they were. He suggested that I go back home and get tested for Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Classic and Vascular types and Loeys-Dietz syndrome type I and type II. Both are connective tissue diseases that affect the integrity of blood vessels but have other symptoms as well. Please pray that my insurrance back home (Medicaid) will pay for these tests. It will be important to know if I have any of these when I need surgery in the future. Thank you so much for your prayers and support, tangible and intangible. It means the world to me. Tonight, I am going to celebrate my grandnephew Eli's 1st birthday with my nephew and his family and then I head back to the Western burbs tomorrow morning. Blessings, Clare

Here is an update. My records finally got to Mayo in the middle of my appointment at about 9:30 a.m. but they were lost somewhere in Mayo's mail system. I waited until about 10:45a.m. in the office to see if the cardiologist could track them down. She called at about 1:50 p.m. to say she had located them, looked at them and said I could come up to take about what she found. She confirmed that I did indeed have a SCAD Heart attack but she said that actully two arteries had dissected. She said that my abdomonal CT showed I had a splenic aneurysm and it should be monitored and re-imaged this time next year for any changes. She stopped the cholesteral medicine and the blood thinner. I will continue to be on the other heart medicine and the low dose aspirin. I am relieved. Hopefully the bruising will improve. She signed me up for two research studies on SCAD and then I had my blood drawn for the studies. She made a referral for genetic counseling. I will go tomorrow as a standby patient and be there by 645 a.m. for any last minute cancellations. The genetic counselor will recommend certain genetic testing based on my family history. I hope to take this information back to Illinois and see a genetisist for testing. I am exhausted but have enjoyed spending time with my nephew Brian, his wife Thao, and their kids Emma (2) and Eli (1). I am hoping to be back in the Western Suburbs on Friday night.

I got up here safely and am settling in. Please pray. Some of my medical records did not get here namely the cardiac cath and my cardiac stress test. Two very important tests for them to have. The cardiologist's Mayo said she would ask the cardiologist at CDH to have it FeeExed up here in time for my appointment on Wed morning. Pray that can happen and I don't have to reschedule. Thank you.

Praise God I'm fully funded for Mayo Clinic. Things to pray for:
1. Safe travels
2. Wisdom for my Mayo cardiologist Dr. Best and her team to make an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan.
3. That the money raised would be sufficient to do any additional testing to make a diagnosis.
4. Prayer that some genetic testing could be done while I am there
5. That my medication could be tweeked so I will bruise less
6. That I would be done and able to return home by Friday night. I
Thank for all your prayers, generosity and support. Anyone who would like to join my Rezgroup to pray for my trip and appt to Mayo Clinic can meet up in front after the second service.
Blessings Clare

Clare, I'm so sorry to hear your disability was denied! Just prayed for you as you requested, for hope and not to give in to despair. I'm also praying God will give you a good place to live for 3-4 months and continue to provide for all your needs. I'm sorry your attorney let you down so badly and left you with such few options. Hang in there and keep putting your hope in the only One who won't ever let you down - our Comforter, Jesus.

Clare, wonderful that you had that evening with Ven. Mukan!! What a blessing to have him at Rez during Revive. Sorry to hear about that mass in your abdomen - you must be battling fear as you wait to learn more. Know that there are hundreds at Rez & elsewhere you love you and will walk with you, whatever this road holds. You are not alone.
