Christla - Many of you know her story of being rescued after her Mom died when she was only 5 months old, many of you have prayed for her when the medical complications began last year, and many of you have helped us out financially or in other practical ways during these last two years as we and many others have fought for her life!
Christla, the little girl we are adopting from Haiti, is here in the US right now on a medical VISA due to the complicated seizures she has been having since November of last year. A doctor team from Florida, made up of a pediatrician and pediatric neurologist, will begin working this month to assess her situation, run much needed tests, and provide the treatment and care she needs that we could not find in Haiti. The acting pediatrician came on a medical team with Calvary Chapel Melbourne and met Christla in Haiti earlier this year and has been advocating for her in Florida ever since. It is really a miracle that she is even in the US right now as it is very rare for the government to grant a non-immigrant visa to a child who is on the immigrant visa adoption track. But special considerations were made due to her health and we are grateful to God for allowing this happen.
The doctor team is working pro-bono and two medical centers in Florida (Holmes Regional Medical Center and Brevard Health Alliance) will cover the initial neurological workup cost which includes; brain MRI, metabolic panel, EEG, lab work, and sleep study. We are raising money right now to cover the cost of airfare transportation to the medical testing centers in Florida. We attempted to find a closer hospital to our house in CA and spoke with many hospitals across the US - but this is the only hospital that agreed to cover the medical expenses which will be quite high.
We are raising money to fund this cost which includes the intial trip to the states from Haiti, 2-3 trips to Florida in the next 3 months with either Sara or I accompanying her beginning this Tuesday August 9th, and the return trip back to Haiti.
All funds we are raising will go directly to supporting this cause to get Christla in good health!! We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any support you can give to us right now as we continue to fight for Christla!!
