Chaz Oatten's Medical Fund

Hi All, I'm Chaz's Aunt Diana and I'm hoping to get the word out that my nephew was in a terrible accident while on vacation out of state last night on Nov 3rd. I'm hoping to raise money to help offset the family members that have driven over 5 hours to him, medical costs, and many other numorous bills they will have coming in. Every dime will be given directly into their account. They need all the love and support they could receive so please share this gofundme as well.

The main picture is of him and Corinne (his gf) the afternoon of his accident.

This is the News Article out of Indiana:
I-65 Head-On Crash Sends One to HospitalInterstate Closed Northbound at 19 Mile Marker

Scott County - On Tuesday, November 3, 2015, at approximately 6:19pm, officers from the Indiana State Police in Sellersburg responded to a report of a Personal Injury crash northbound on I-65 in Scott County near the 27 mile marker.

A preliminary investigation reveals that a black 2009 Toyota Corolla driven by Charles Oatten, 20, of Westland, Michigan, was traveling southbound on I-65 approaching the 27 mile marker when the vehicle lost control for an unknown reason. The vehicle travelled off the east side of the roadway, crossing over the median and entered the northbound lanes of I-65. The vehicle then struck a northbound 2013 Kenworth Semi-truck driven by Randy Wolke, 58, of Coon Rapids, Minnesota. After striking the semi-truck the vehicle crossed into the right-hand lane and struck the rear tandem wheels of a 2015 Peterbilt driven by Michael Smith, 23, of Indianapolis. The Toyota was pushed north approximately 100 feet and came to rest in the median of I-65.

Charles Oatten was flown to U of L Hospital in Louisville, KY and is currently listed in critical condition. No other drivers were injured in the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. I-65 Northbound is currently closed at the 19 mile marker and traffic is being diverted north on US 31 to Scottsburg.

The Indiana State Police were assisted by units from the Scott County Sheriff’s Department, and units from the Scottsburg Fire Department.

No one is sure what caused him to lose control and not sure if we ever will.

He was very fortunate and made it through the worst of it last night. He had quite extensive pelvic damage and needed immediate surgery to stop the bleeding. Which they did accomplish. He has nurmurous broken bones and will need surguries to fix those once he is in more stable condition.

Unfortunatly he lost his left arm at the accident and the doctors were not able to reattach it. With being a musician this is going to be devastating to him.

The next few days are going to be tough but he is showing good signs and the doctors are optimistic! He is showing signs of being responsive. He knew who Corrine was and made pouty faces at his Mom. But he is not out of the woods at all.

Please if you could send all your love and prayers to Corrine, Tammie and Corey, Charles, Christina, Michael, Bryar, Kayla and all his other family members.

We are all praying for you Chaz and Hope we get to see that smiling face again soon!
