Send Carli & Meli to DNC 4 Bernie!

I am very excited to announce that I, Carli Stevenson, and my brilliant fiancee, Meli Barber, have been appointed to standing committees for Bernie Sanders at the Democratic National Convention. Meli will be serving on the Credentials committee, and I will be serving on the Platform committee as representatives from Indiana.

We want to carry your voice and our values to the Democratic National Convention. We will fight for the most progressive platform and rules to come out of the DNC ever. But we need your help to get there. 

I first went to work on the Bernie Sanders campaign in November of last year because I saw it as an unprecedented opportunity to push a truly progressive agenda on the national stage. It was my great honor to serve as Deputy Communications Director in New Hampshire, then Communications Director in Ohio and Minnesota, Political Director in Indiana, and finally working on the National Advance team. 

Meli was as committed to this campaign as I was. Despite working and going to school full-time, she sent me halfway across the country to work for Bernie, organized an event for her fellow social workers, and phone banked on the Bernie dialer whenever she could, making calls to Indiana, California, New Hampshire, and New York, just to name a few.

We are both honored and excited to continue the Political Revolution to the convention.

If you believe healthcare is a human right, that we need to invest in jobs and education, not jails and incarceration, that no one should live in poverty, and that our country should work for all of us, not just the wealthy, you're in good company. This is what we will be fighting for at the Convention.

Going to the DNC is expensive. That's why we are asking for your help. As a graduate student and former campaign worker, we don't have a lot of money to spare. Anything you can contribute will be greatly appreciated. 

We are only asking for what we absolutely need, and have worked hard to reduce costs. We are driving to the DNC instead of flying, sharing a hotel room with two other people, and are budgeting our food based on the government per diem for just one person, instead of the two of us.

Here is a breakdown of our costs:

Gas: $300
Tolls: $100
Hotel: $1000
Food/Incidentals: $512
Pre-DNC Platform Committee Meeting in Orlando (airfare/hotel/food): $1239

(I also included the 5% GoFundMe takes into our fundraising goal)

If we raise more than what we need, we will give the extra money to a needy member of our delegation.
