I am a friend of Cameron and his family and particularly his mother, Marianne. I have created this GoFundMe page to help his family send Cameron to the 2016 Canadian Age Group Championships for swimming in Calgary, Alberta from July 27th to August 1st.
Cameron has been swimming with the Upper Canada Swim Club (UCSC) River Otters since he was 10 years old. He is currently 14 and has recently achieved the qualifying times needed to swim at the 2016 Canadian Age Group Championships being held in Calgary, Alberta. This is no small feat in itself and the club is celebrating this accomplishment!
The Upper Canada Swim Club swims out of the D.B. Green Pool at the Brockville and area YMCA in Brockville, Ontario. Brockville is a town of 21,000 people on the St. Lawrence River. The club has 70 to 80 swimmers and does not often get to send an athlete to National level events. Interestingly enough one of the past club swimmers to go to this level of meet was Cameron’s mother, Marianne, who is also currently a coach for the club! It means a great deal to Cameron to be able to go to this meet as he has big goals for his swimming future and this is one of the very important trips on his journey.
The money will be used to fly Cameron, Marianne and the clubs Head Coach, Martin McKend, to Calgary and provide accommodations while they are there.
If there are funds that were raised and not used, they will be donated to help kids in sports, either through the Upper Canada Swim Club, the YMCA or Make Play Possible. UCSC has a practice to sponsor a swimmer through Make Play Possible each year.
Here are a few local newspaper articles about UCSC and Cameron from this year:

Thanks for your support, I know that there are lots of great causes out there and your support will make a difference! Maybe we will see Cameron on a podium at a global event someday!
