Callie's Stand, and Fight for Life.
Fast forward four years to May of 2015. With beautiful travel experiences and memories shared together, they gave birth to a beautiful, healthy, baby girl named Kenzi Rae. With the sweetest spirit, just like her momma, this blonde hair, blue eyed girl, grew into a curious toddler who leaves everyone in awe of her gentle and content nature. Like many young women, Callie's greatest dream and ultimate success would look like that of raising little ones into women and men after God's own heart. It was no secret that this couple was ready to be pregnant again, but after two miscarriages, their hearts were hurt, and left clinging to The Lord for peace and strength. Callie was timid when her third pregnancy test in one year read "positive." She was slow to speak of this news, and cherished every new day that her baby continued to grow within her. The days turned into weeks, and by three months Kevin & Callie felt somewhat confident to share this great joy with everyone, acknowledging their need for The Lord's protection.
Callie shares in her blog ( http://www.callie.co/blog/) the details of this journey, and how on the morning of December 16th, at 15 weeks pregnant she felt the strong need to schedule an appointment with her doctor. After being seen that day, she was told that her son, Quinn Alan, would be coming within hours, maybe days, and was advised to head to the hospital immediately, where she would be admitted to Labor and Delivery. Callie did everything she could, in desperate hope of keeping their baby boy tucked away safely inside her. On December 21st her water broke. This was the last thing keeping Quinn earth side and Callie uninfected. She and Kevin were taken on a roller coaster ride of emotions over the six days. Quinn simply would not come out on his own, and any medical intervention left Callie at a high risk for hemorrhaging. All they could do is wait and pray. Each sonogram proved the little kicks and flutters that Callie continued to feel to be true. Quinn's heart was beating strong, and Callie refused to take his life into her own hands. I'll forever respect her for that. Her surrender to the Lord has changed me, others, and will continue to impact the lives of many.
On December 27th Callie went into septic shock from an extremely severe infection that began shutting down all of her organs, which ultimately took Quinn's life while still in the womb. Callie was rushed to the ICU in critical condition, fighting for her life. Since then, Callie has undergone multiple surgeries and procedures, unable to survive without a ventilator. Outside of stepping away for an hour or two every couple days to spend time with their precious daughter Kenzi, her incredible husband Kevin has never left her side. Day and night, he is right there, and doesn't plan on leaving her anytime soon. Kevin has taken an unpaid leave of absence from work, as any loving husband would.
As you can imagine, a financial burden is the last thing we, as The Colwick's community, want laying heavily upon them in this time of desperation. We are asking for you to come alongside us, in whatever way you feel led, and give. This gift will help cover medical expenses, monthly bills, and the general cost of daily living for both Kevin and Kenzi. If unable to give in this way, please take time to stop and say a prayer for Callie. Your prayers are of most value. The Colwick's know who The Great Physician is, and so do we. He IS able. Callie needs a miracle, and again, The Lord, our God, IS able. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for taking time to read this, and allowing it to move you. To know Callie is to love Callie. She is truly radient.
Over the summer nearly a dozen tubes and drains were removed from her body, her wounds are becoming smaller and closing in some areas, and she is regaining some function in her hands. Callie is recovering from a recent abdominal surgery and is able to eat normal food now although intense nausea and lack of appetite prevent her from getting much. Every day she fights through immense pain but is trying her hardest in all of her therapy sessions to get better and get home to her sweet baby Kenzi.
There will be more surgery in 2018 and being so sick for so long means that her recovery process is going to be very long and difficult. She is able to use her phone again sometimes so don’t hold back any encouragement you might have for her! Thank you so much for continued prayers and support.
The last five months have been unimaginably difficult. The Colwick's hearts are broken for what they have lost. But a few weeks ago Callie asked Kevin to do something out of the ordinary. In a moment of complete clarity she said:
"Kevin, I want you to speak in front of our church to give them an update - but not for me. For the Lord and for His glory. I want the church to know that in spite of everything that has happened to me I STILL praise Him."
She wants you to be encouraged! To know that no matter what happens, God is good and worthy of praise. Without a moment's hesitation The Parks Church in McKinney gave Kevin the chance to grant Callie's wish on Mother's Day.
We don't know what the path forward looks like but please continue to lift your voices in prayer for miraculous healing for Callie in both body and soul.
Some of her organs are beginning to function again.
She is needing less and less support from the ventilator, and is beginning to become somewhat awake and aware.
Up until this point we've been praying for the miraculous healing that she needs and we will continue to do so. We thank and praise The Lord for all that he has done so far, and will continue to ask for daily progress. Please, pray and believe this with us!
Callie, I have not seen you for almost 10 years, but the woman I knew was strong, sweet, faithful, and a lover of the Lord. We are praying for you and your sweet family. Know that God sees you, He is faithful, He is your healer, He is your strength, He is your provider, and He is your hope. We will not stop praying with faithful anticipation of your healing and restoration. God be with you and your family.
May our Mother Mary, seated at the feet of Jesus, come in your behalf for Cassie's miracle

We're praying for a miracle as we know only He can provide! I almost lost my husband to sepsis about 6 years ago, so I know how hard it is on everyone. Hugs to you all!
