The Colorado School of Mines Club Men’s Rugby Team has been representing campus for over 45 years. Today the club has evolved into a prominent club sport on campus and in their division. The team is a competitive club participating in Division II of the USA Rugby Association. The club has grown to be group of 40 student-athletes whom are committed to playing this great game while pursuing their college education. Due to the foundation that has been laid by past members, it is without doubt the club will continue to enjoy success and be able to preserve the opportunity for future Mines students to participate.

With hard work from the club officers, players, and coaches, Mines Club Men’s Rugby enjoyed a season that tied the most successful season in club history in 2014/2015, finishing the regular season record with a record of 6-1. After getting past regionals, the team finished among one of the top 16 in the nation at the national tournament for the first time in a decade. With this success in mind and a team comprised of returning core players, the team is setting even higher expectations for the future in 2015/16. Mines Men Rugby is confident that we will finish at the top of our division and earn another trip to the national tournament.
To play our regular season games we are required to travel across the state and for playoffs we will have to travel all over the Southern United States. As you can imagine, it is an expensive endeavor transporting and sometimes housing our team for these events. We are predominately a player-funded organization, and while we do our best to keep costs as low as possible, we need your help covering these expenses.

It is our goal this year to play in the Division II National Championships this year in Greenville South Carolina. To get there we will have to play in two other qualifying rounds in different states. We made it deep into the playoffs last year, and with many returning players we hope for just as much playoff success again this year.
In achieving this goal, the team will need additional support. Last season, the regional tournament was held in Austin, Texas and the national tournament was in Vallejo, California. For trips such as these to occur, the team would have to spend upwards of $25,000 for airfare and hotels. As a student-run organization, our program relies heavily on the generosity and support of our family, friends and community. Your support will also assist with future expenses related to travel and dues that are incurred exclusively by players to participate in USA Rugby.

We are a dedicated and hard working group of student athletes and your help in supporting the Men’s Rugby team and the Colorado School of Mines would be greatly appreciated. Big or small, your donation makes a huge difference.
Thank you for making the 2015/16 season rewarding for our team. You can learn more about our team and follow our progress at our Team Website.
