I must be crazy! I've signed up to run 300km (London to Paris) by Saturday 13th June in the #DuchenneDashATHOME, to fund research for a cure & George’s Big Bedroom build. It's a BIG personal challenge! Please help with any donation you can!

Why am I doing this?
Our son George was diagnosed in 2016 with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), a devastating muscle wasting disease that mainly affects boys.  It's the most common genetic killer of children worldwide. Children will be totally paralysed by their teens and many won't live beyond their 20s. It's so cruel, and George is just 12 years old!

Two families a week in the UK are told that their child has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). There is no treatment or cure, but thanks to recent breakthroughs, and with your help, we believe we can save them.

George needs medical equipment at home that isn't funded by the NHS e.g. mobile hoist, and we have recently started our house adaptions for George's 'Big Bedroom Build' so he can have his much needed downstairs bedroom and wet room. He can no longer get up the stairs, but the costs for these things are huge and never ending!

'When your legs don't work like they used to before...' This is the opening lyric line from the popular Ed Sheeran song 'Thinking Out Loud'. When it plays on the radio George's younger brother, Jack, will shout out 'George, it's your song about your legs'. As they sing along innocently together John & I have an emotional glance at each other, taking a brief heartbreaking smile,  wishing it wasn't 'George's song'!

The reality is however that George's legs don't work like they used to before. Duchenne has stolen George's ability to walk, to run. He doesn't have a choice! Duchenne is gradually taking his arms, and it plans to steal all the muscles in the rest of his body until he can't function anymore. BUT, I'm lucky....my legs work. I have a choice to run, to train my body and mind to meet the challenge. George's favourite song is 'Fix You' by Coldplay, and that's what we try to do in all aspects of George's shortened life.

So, this is why!....by completing this challenge I can try to make a difference to 'Fix You' George in any way that I can to make your life easier.

Please donate whatever you can, to help us help George.

Your help is forever appreciated.
Thank you
