Buc: A Warrior's Story
Introducing Buc!
This 2 year old miniature horse managed to entangle his back leg in a gate. Being a is a curious boy, he wandered onto property unfamiliar to him. His owners at the time searched for 2 days to no avail. Finally, he was found by his family. With hope, they attempted to treat his wounds and care for him on their own until they realized his injuries were more than they had the time to treat.

His future immediately started looking up!
Claire and her two friends - Chris and Michelle - have taken Buc in. He was given the name Buc, after Bucephalus, the famed horse of Alexander the Great. Although they may have very different physical statures, they are the same in heart.
Together, they are providing the costly and time consuming medical care he needs. After his first evaluation from Dr. Herb Loeman, Buc was given a saddening prognosis. His leg tissue is necrotic and "peeling" off. He also lost his entire hoof, leaving him no choice but to painfully walk on his coffin bone.
Needless to say, Buc has gained quite the fan base and cheering squad! His constant care is costly; however giving up on him is NOT an option. Being such a young colt, he has an entire life ahead of him! A life filled with laughing children, green pastures, and handfuls of cookies to eat.
Buc’s circle of “Miracle Dream Team Members” is driven to find a way to
provide Buc a prosthesis as he recovers.
Veterinary Inclusive Prosthetics / Orthotics: www.equineprosthetics.com - A practice in Busnell FL - has agreed to work in conjunction with Buc's vet Dr Herb Loeman to create a new hoof and a new supporting leg Prosthetic for Buc!
