This is your chance to help fund the Brian Gallagher Quartet live CD.
This project is a commemorative effort to honor the life and music of the late Twin Cities based saxophonist Brian Gallagher. Brian's musical career spanned for over 3 decades. During this time he fulfilled the roles of Composer, Sideman, and Band Leader. He worked nationally and internationally with such artists as Prince (as a member of the New Power Generation from 1991-96), Taylor Hicks, Mandy Moore, and many others. Brian also wrote music for and co-led the funk supergroup Greazy Meal which he formed in 1995.
This project is a glimpse in the musical direction he was heading before his life was cut short unexpectedly from a pulmonary embolism in early March 2016.
The CD will be made up of a selection of songs that were recorded live in performance on January 21,2016. It will contain a mixture of Brian’s original material that he composed expressly for this band, and also his arrangements of songs that inspired him. The band also features Brian Ziemniak on keyboards, Yohannes Tona on bass, Peter Hennig on drums and Brian’s longtime collaborator Julius Collins adding vocals to a few songs.
This Gofundme will cover ALL production costs (mixing, mastering, duplication, rights clearances etc.) for the project so that 100% of the proceeds from CD sales and downloads will go to an account setup for Brian’s children.
There will be a CD release concert event at the Icehouse in Minneapolis on November 22,2016, the night before Brian’s 53rd birthday. Stay tuned to this page and the Brian Gallagher Quartet CD Release Facebook page for more details and special guest artists performing that night.
As a special thank you, anyone who donates $50 and above will receive a special unreleased track from the night of the band’s live recording. The track will be emailed to you separately near the CD release date.
