This is so embarrassing for me to do but also so necessary. I'm trying to save money to buy a portable oxygen concentrator that my insurance does not cover. A lot of you know I have Lupus and other secondary auto-immune disorders. Well, two of them are culprits to my Interstitial Lung Disease. One, being Scleroderma, which scars my lungs from pneumonia. The second being Sjogrens which dries out vital organs and does not help with the healing process. So, I was told I have to be on oxygen 24 hours a day. I have a home concentrator that plugs into my wall and is not portable at all. I was given tanks to carry around for appointments or outings, these tanks are somewhat heavy and bulky. Needless to say I have 7 fractured vertabrae that are trying to heal.
With a portable concentrator my quality of life would be so much better. They are lightweight, as well as battery and Ac/dc outlet compatible. What I care about most of all is that I would not have to worry about it running out of oxygen, like I have experienced many times before. There are times that I have been out with my family and faulty tanks were not full of oxygen and I ended up in the hospital. It is very hard to lug tanks around in your car or wheelchair, did I mention they can't be in high heat(car in summer) or cold temperatures because they are combustible and flammable.
My doctors and I have tried over and over again to get it approved by my insurance but they don't see it medically necessary and I am on Medicare whose Independence Waiver program will not cover it either.
I pray to God that my FB family and friends can help me reach this goal, I have faith that together we will.
