Brandon's Thumbs Up
As any parent would, we have gone through all we can to find out about his condition and how we can help him in the long run. We met Dr. Nicholas Bastidas the day after Brandon was born and he offered to do a reconstructive surgery called Pollicization where they create a thumb using his index finger. This surgery was done on April 27th at Cohen Children Medical Center in New Hyde Park. We are more then happy and blessed that all went well and soon enough we will start therapy for him. A few months from now he will have surgery on his left hand to reposition and strengthen his thumb. God willing this time next year he will be giving us two thumbs up without a problem.
For the first year of his life we have been in and out of doctors offices, specialists, and now this surgery and the one thats still to come in a few months will, God willing, better his future and give him a chance at a normal life. Unfortunately our insurance does not cover all expenses and we have found ourselves going through our savings to try to keep up with it all.
We are asking for any help possible to help our family come out of this journey without a financial burden over our heads and to be able to give our children the life they deserve.
We thank you so much for all your help. May God Bless us all.
