POST-TRIP UPDATE: First, THANK YOU to everyone who has supported us at every step! Our Japan trip was a great success, and there is tremendous energy and interest toward another international trip for 2019, with our grand goal being 6 continents in 6 years. *All remaining funds are being managed by my school, and all additional donations received here are automatically transferred to FDA's account for future travel.*

The greatest gifts are not things, but experiences.

I am Bijoun Eric Jordan, an English teacher in Brooklyn finishing my 14th year in the classroom.  I teach to give students access and opportunity, and the greatest way I've ever taken that on was creating a crowdfunded trip to Spain last year.

You, or people like you, helped a group of students in Brownsville, one of the toughest parts of Brooklyn, NY, to experience life in parts of the world they probably would never have seen otherwise. Most come from families that are struggling to provide their children with the best. For many, it was their first time leaving the country, or their first time ever being on an airplane.

Now, we are back at it again. This July, with your help, 17 scholars from Frederick Douglass Academy VII will travel to Japan, the Land of the Rising Sun, and embark on a seven-day itinerary filled with historical and cultural exposure and exchange. For those fascinated by Japan, it will fulfill a longtime dream; for all of them, it will provide a sample of life that is way different from their day-to-day.

The trip is not free for any of the travelers; each student's family pays a portion of the cost, with the majority coming from donations and community fundraisers. All funds are being deposited in a school account.

Students going on this trip will graduate with passports in hand, the knowledge that there is a way to get anywhere they want to go, and knowing they belong anywhere they say they belong. Let's change 17 lives.

We thank you for your support and love in all forms.
