Beach 8th Graders to Guatemala

Welcome to the Beach School Guatemala fundrasing page! Our plan is to have the 8th Graders from the Beach School Dual Immersion program in Portland, OR study abroad in Guatemala. Beach School has never had this kind of opportunity for students to immerse themselves in Spanish language and South American culture. They have been studying Spanish since Kindergarten, are fluent and are ready for an immersive experience.
On the program students continue their Spanish language learning, volunteer in a program to help clean up Lake Atitlan, write and reflect and report back to their school about what they learned during their two-week experience.
This is a grassroots project run by a group of dedicated parents and teachers. Two parents (Dawn Stanfield Reese and Melanie Moseley) and one teacher (Laresa Beck) will accompany the group, participate in the volunteer project and work with them as they navigate a new cultural experience.
The program runs March 19-April 2, 2016.
