Nepal Earthquake: Basic Needs

Hello Everyone,

My name is Shashi Subedi, currently a resident of Maryland, USA but originally from Nepal. On April 25, 2015, a massive earthquake, registering at a magnitude of 7.9 on the richter scale, hit Nepal.

Hundreds of houses and buildings across the region have collapsed, leaving many homeless. Many thousands remain trapped in collapsed structures, or without food and shelter, awaiting rescue in rain and inclement weather. There is an urgent need to provide food, safe drinking water, means of sanitation and medical assistance to people across the country. This is the worst disaster in the region in 80 years, and the threat of disease and starvation looms large unless assistance is provided immediately.

My own house has been taken out by this earthquake. Luckily, my parents are safe. While many organizations and individuals have been working on collecting funds, aids and any other possible help, this is my small effort to contibute back to the nation I grew up in.

NOTE: This funding is NOT to help my parents but to help other people in Nepal with greater needs. 

With help of Rotary E-Club of District 3292 (https://www.facebook.com/groups/365995666813525/?fref=ts) in Nepal and my close friend Sarbinda KC ( https://www.facebook.com/sarbinda.kc?fref=ts) who is member of the E-club, my goal is to assist them with funding so that they can obtain necessary supplies (tents/ blankets/dry foods/water filter/purifiers)  and distribute to the needy ones. 

A question might arise, "How will the funds be used?"

1) You donate and help with what you can, remember every penny counts as USD 1 is equivalent to almost NPR 100 there.

2) The funds will be transfered to Sarbinda, member of the club and will be deposited into club's account.
