Baltimore Rows at THE HENLEY
Donation protected
Baltimore Rowing is proud to announce that this year, 12 of our athletes - 8 young ladies from our Reach High youth program, have been selected to compete in the prestigious and historic Henley Women's Regatta on the Thames River in England, June 17th-19th. This is also an historic event for Baltimore and Central Maryland, as this is the first time Baltimore youth have been selected for this honor! In addition, 4 of our adult Men's Competitive rowers will be competing at the Henley Royal Regatta June 29th-July 3rd. Baltimore and Maryland are so honored to have such fine representatives at this international event.
We eagerly look to you - our teammates, friends, family, coworkers, fans of rowing, fans of sports, fans of Baltimore - to please join us to support Baltimore Rowing & Reach High in this adventure! We welcome donations of all sizes. And please share this exciting opportunity with other potential donors. Your contributions will help to offset travel, food, and lodging expenses for our fine young athletes, coaches and chaperones. Read on to see what this means to our rowers and family...
"I am so grateful for the extraordinary opportunity I have been...to row at the Henley. My teammates and I worked extremely hard this season to make the top boat, and to be the first high school rowers from BRC that get the chance to travel to England, and row in this prestigious regatta... it will be my first time going out of the country, and my 17th birthday falls within the trip! It will be an incredible experience!" Shane Devine (age 16, Mt. Hebron High School), rowing in one of the women's youth quadruple scull (4X)
"... the experience means so much to us because we see The Royal Henley as sort of the peak experience for rowers short of going to world or the Olympics. As we all get older and become more focused with our careers and beginning our lives with wives and kids and everything else adults have to go through, training at such a high level becomes harder... This experience means so much to us because it very well might be some of our last chances to go to The Royal Henley and (without sounding conceited) having a good chance to win it all." John Kauffman (age 27, English Teacher, Catholic High School, Baltimore), rowing in the men's four plus cox (4+)
"I am so impressed with my daughters’ ability to balance the rigorous practice schedule while maintaining A’s in school. Their hard work and dedication to the team continue to open doors of opportunity. I hope I’m able to contain myself as I watch all the girls race down the Thames!" Karen Hinton, proud mom of Amaris Hinton (age 16 Poly High School), and Myca Hinton (age 16, Baltimore School For The Arts). Both daughters wil be racing at the Henley in quadruple scull (4X) events.
We so very much appreciate your generous support and interest! Thank you for being part of this lifetime experience for our very hardworking athletes, families, and coaches.
