BOPiC is a non-profit organization based in Chambersburg, PA. Our organization has three branches: a nutritional and educational program; translating and interpreting services; and the Elm Street Program for oversight of neighborhood revitalization.
The goal of our summer program is to provide supplemental nutritional, academic, and life skills services to a growing population of economically disadvantaged multi-cultural youth who reside within the Borough of Chambersburg and Franklin County.
Our children are introduced to healthy meal options and the importance of a balanced diet with our nutritional program. We strive to ensure that all children enrolled in our program receive a well-rounded breakfast, lunch, and snack throughout their time with us. Academic deficiencies are also addressed through our educational enrichment program. We provide specialized instruction for Head Start and Pre-K children instructed by Franklin County Head Start staff, as well as age-appropriate instruction for elementary students by qualified instructors. Our Youth Leadership Training Program includes middle and high school students who are trained in building leadership attitudes and skills. Through partnerships with various work sites, these adolescents are also given the opportunity to participate in real paid work experience that is both meaningful and valuable.
For 25 years our BOPiC Summer Program has had a positive impact on the youth of this community, many of whom have gone on to be employed by the Chambersburg School District or other local districts as teachers, administrators, and counselors.
As we prepare for an outstanding comprehensive 2017 summer program, we need to raise $150,000 which comes annually through generous grants and other financial support from organizations and individuals. However, we are seeking an additional $25,000 to reach more at-risk students in our community. Help us to expand the reach and depth of our impact in the community. It takes a village to raise a child - what can you do to help your village?
