Austen's Year with Grassroot Soccer
Donation protected
For those of you who do not know me, my name is Austen Kelso and I am a recent graduate of the University of Richmond. I am happy to announce that in August I will be traveling to Soweto, South Africa (outside of Johannesburg) to spend a year working as a Volunteer Intern with Grassroot Soccer (GRS), a non-profit organization whose mission is to use the power of soccer to educate, inspire, and mobilize young people to stop the spread of HIV. As an intern in Soweto, I will be supporting local programs to deliver effective interventions, supporting coaches, organizing events (such as Holiday camps, HIV Counseling & Testing Events), and collecting monitoring and evaluation data. I am extremely excited for this once in a lifetime opportunity to use the sport I love to fight the spread of AIDS/HIV in Soweto!
However, as a Volunteer Intern, I will need to have enough funds to support myself during my time in South Africa. Grassroot Soccer recommends that interns have $10,000 to cover flights, visas, vaccinations, healthcare, and food for the year. With your help I will be able to cover all the necessary costs to get to Soweto and back!
Any donation, large or small, will make a difference in helping me join the fight against HIV/AIDS. Thank you for all your support!
