Auria’s Medical supplies
As some of you may know Auria was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, Type 1 diabetes when she was just 4 years old. Her body doesn’t make its own insulin anymore so that means injections at every meal and incessant monitoring of her blood glucose levels all day and night
This disease sucks but living in 2019 means there are so many advances and tools to make it easier and safer for people with Type 1
However.. you are either paying insane amounts of money for it out of pocket if you are able or letting insurances decide what you can and can not be approved for
Auria’s been using a CGM (constant glucose monitor) for the past two years it keeps her safe and allows her to maintain really good blood sugars, something so vital over time
It allows her to have some normalcy as a 7 year old kid
Due to the unpredictability of this disease it is common to have blood sugars drop dangerous low or climb dangerously high— especially at night, this is the scary time. Currently she and I are up 3x or more a night to make sure her blood sugars stay level
At the mercy of insurances and medical suppliers we are not getting anywhere with approval for her CGM since we switched insurances. She’s gone more than a month without it simply because it’s astronomical to pay out of pocket anymore than we already have.
I am working diligently with insurance for
approvals but it is hard not to feel helpless. I
don’t normally do things like this ( I never do in fact ) but I know we have so many amazing friends and family that have always been so supportive and helpful and we need a little help at this time
I don’t foresee this taking more than 2 months so this amount is for two months worth of supplies to keep her safe and healthy. Thank you in advance for your kindness
Love,
Linds and Auria
