Assistance Dog for Ashley
Donativo protegido
My name is Ashley and I am 19 years old, I come from Rylstone in the Central West of NSW.
While most girls my age are worrying about study, work, boys or traveling the world, I suffer from PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). This has occurred following a series of awful, traumatic events in my life, happening over the last few years. This means that when I am trapped in its grip I can’t get to sleep and when I can I have terrible horrific nightmares. I am often afraid to leave my room, even to go to dinner. I struggle every day at University, having to force myself where possible to go to lectures and get my assignments done. All this makes me fear my dreams of becoming a Registered Nurse in Regional NSW and helping out in my community will never be achieved.
Why I have made this GoFundMe you ask? Well!!
To help my disorder I was told about the “Assistance Dog Scheme” and while researching this and my ability to access this scheme I was introduced to a beautiful Labradoodle pup named Sophie. She is 7 months old and just passed her training to become an Assistance Dog. She is being taught to enter rooms before me, to accompany me to my classes and to make me feel secure during my dark periods, as well as comfort me through nightmares.
Having Sophie will assist my sleep disorder and mean I can sleep with no worries, go out in public, knowing she will be there to protect me and watch people for me when I am feeling insecure. She will allow me to relax and help get my study done over this bleak period in my life, helping me to fulfill my dreams of becoming a Registered Rural Nurse and to live my life to the fullest.
Please help me get her into my life
