Hi! Thanks so much for taking a moment to read about our fundraising effort for the North American Junior and Young Rider Championships. This is the official Junior Olympics for the equestrian sport known as Eventing.

My name is Ariana (shown above and below), and along with my teammates, Maya and Sofie, we want to share with you our passion for the equestrian discipline of Eventing, along with our desire to raise funds to compete in the National Championships in 2017. Eventing is a challenging horseback riding competition combining three separate disciplines - dressage, show jumping, and cross country jumping.

I have been riding since I was four years old and I just turned 18. I have a deep and true commitment to riding and competing my horse, In A Trance (owned by Kristin C., thank you!). I never, ever tire of riding Trance and often am with him seven days a week. Trance is a really special guy. Fully retired after getting hurt during Hurricane Katrina, then later surviving complete renal failure, Trance (even at age 19!) never, ever gives up or stops loving his job. He's quite honestly amazing. I am beyond fortunate to know him, love him, ride him, and compete him thanks to Kristin. He taught me to never give up on my goal to compete nationally.
About the fundraising...the North American Junior and Young Rider Championships is  the official Junior Olympics for eventing.  Excitement cannot possibly describe how we feel about working towards this goal - we have been training and competing since we were young to progress through many levels of competition to get to this ultimate point.

One requirement for our team is to raise enough money to help get us and Trance to Montana for the Championships in July 2017.  It costs almost $10,000 to send a horse and rider to the Championships. The money completely supports transporting the horses and ensuring they are happy and cared for every step of the way across the country - after all, Trance is part of our family. We also need to feed him, stable him, have veterinary services available for him, as well as take care of ourselves (travel, food, housing, training, etc.). We would represent Area II of the country and this includes Virginia where we live and train.

Maya (pictured below with Loki), would like to be a groom at the Championships, and she is equally dedicated and passionate about her riding career.  Maya aspires to compete at the North American Junior and Young Rider Championships when she is eligible and this initial experience of being a groom and being on the Area II team would be invaluabe to her. This is our joint fundraising effort and Maya's groom experience at this junior olympic event will position her well to hopefully turn her junior olympic dreams into reality in a few years.

Sofie (pictured below with Belle) is also looking to be a groom at the Championship! Sofie aspires to Compete at NAJYRC one day as well and being able to groom would ensure she would get the experience needed to help her move up the levels of this sport! With her new rating of a C2 in Pony Club there's no doubt she would be an awesome addition to the team. She is hoping that with this experience she can continue to gain valuable knowledge about this sport and to strive for her dreams as well!

A bit more about Sofie, Maya and I: We are teammates at Morningside Training Farm in The Plains, Virginia. Our trainer, Skyeler Icke Voss, is super supportive of our quest to attend the National Championships. We thank Skye EVERY DAY for her training and help. Without her and MTF, we would not be in the position to embark on this journey together.

Being able to ride, compete, and reach this goal before heading off to college would be the most amazing thing. Having the support of my family, friends, and others to live this dream is almost unbelievable. I hope one day to say thank you personally to all of you who choose to help Sofie, Maya, and I achieve our personal goal this Summer in Montana. Thank you so much for your support.  A donation in any amount is much appreciated.  We really do appreciate your help and hope one day to pay it forward and help other kids reach their riding dream too!

I hope you'll enjoy this video of Trance and I last October as we competed at our first CCI One Star event in Lexington, VA!
