Ecuador needs your help!

It has been a very devastating weekend for all Ecuadorians.  A 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Ecuador on Saturday 04/16 tolling 480 deaths, 4,065 injured, and thousands more affected, requiring food, shelter, and basic supplies. This disaster is leaving behind many people without family members, a home, water , food, etc.  It breaks my heart to see the places where I spent my childhood collapsed, the number of people who are desperately looking for family members and the many children who make it out to not find their parents…

Personally, one of my friends and his family are missing. They were vacationing in Pedernales and the hotel they were staying at collapsed completely. We managed to find a survivor who was part of the hotel’s staff and he told us that they had just seen them 30 minutes before the earthquake hit so we believe they were in their hotel room at the time of the incident. The immediate need to locate my friend is getting more machinery to the affected area and remove the rubble to look for them – the Ecuadorian government doesn’t have enough machinery to help everyone and every minute counts! We need your help to cover the cost for hiring a contractor to bring their own construction machinery and help find them.

Here is a before and after the earthquake of the hotel:

I am starting a campaign to help raise 35K and this is how it will be distributed:
·        $1,000 will go to the machinery costs needed to uncover the hotel where my friend was staying.
·        $34,000 will be split evenly between CARE and UNICEF.

Any help you can provide, it doesn’t matter how much, will be greatly appreciated.  To read more about the earthquake, see here:

Follow up on my previous update, I want to be super transparent with every single donor so you know where the funds went. I've attached the receipts I got from both Unicef and Care. For everyone who donated, PLEASE REMEMBER that donations are done through WePay so please don't cancel those. It shows up as WPY in your Credit Card statement. We've gotten quite a few cancellations so you'll see Care's donation being about 100 dollars short from Unicef's.

From the $16,415 available shown on the page, we split the donations after deducting GoFundMe fees and $1,000 for my family friend mentioned on the initial post.

Thanks everyone for your help!!!

Dear donors,

My apologies for the delay on another update - life has been a little busy lately. I wanted to let you know your contributions have been sent to UNICEF and CARE and I have reached out to them to ask for photos/news on how the money is getting spent.

Again, thank you so much for your donations! It has been amazing to see the level of support and love from all of you to assist those in need today. There were many lives and homes lost back at home, but there is also hope and high energy to get Ecuador back to where it was before this terrible event - thanks for being a part of this!

For those who live in Seattle, there will be more events comin up soon and of course you will all be invited!

Today, I feel so humble and beyond proud of what Ecuadorian people are and have always been. I started a personal campaign, but have now met such inspiring, dedicated Ecuadorians in Seattle who are more than willing to help the country that saw them grown and become the amazing people they are!

United, Ecuadorians in Seattle, with one cause in mind which is to help the people that needs us the most call for your help. There will be many events to come to keep on fundraising for Ecuadorian’s earthquake victims. This is just the first of many since sadly, an earthquake like this one will leave people with a need for help for a long time.

Today, with a broken heart looking into Ecuadorian’s suffering, we are still full of hope and continue to ask for your help in our cause. There are many children without parents, many people without home/food/water and many Ecuadorians that have left this world without a proper family and friends’ good bye.

Please spread the word for this campaign. Any amount you can help with is greatly appreciated!

I wished I had better news to share. I just found out after many hours of searching, my friend and his family were located and sadly they didn't make it. They were found hugging each other, but it was too late. It truly breaks my heart to think of such a young family leaving this world so early and in these unfortunate circumstances. My thoughts and prayers are with my friend's family.

I ask you help me continue raising funds for Ecuadorian victims via UNICEF and CARE, especially to help all those kids who have gone through traumatizing experiences to make it alive, but lost their parents in the earthquake.

For full transparency, the machinery cost to clear the rubble was less than anticipated, so I have updated the distribution of this campaign's funds.

Thanks to everyone who has donated so far. I am so thankful to be part of such an amazing community who is willing to step up and help right away.

There are survivor stories and I truly hope after all this pain, Ecuador will end up with more of those as the days go by. Please keep on sharing this campaign so we can keep making a difference through these tough times.
