Angela's Support Squad

My good friend and roommate of 6 years Angela was recently diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive form of breast cancer. After numerous tests and biopsies, they call what she has Triple Negative Metaplastic Sarcomatoid Carcinoma. Her cancer is not hormonal so the natural next step was a genetic test. After weeks of waiting she found out she was positive for the BRCA-1 gene. Her kind of cancer is 1% of cases. Because of all the factors involved her treatment will be that much more time consuming and both physically and mentally challenging.
At this point, her course of treatment will be 2-3 cycles of intensive chemo with 2 week recovery period in between, followed by a double mastectomy, 2-3 more cycles of chemo and then radiation. The amount of treatment will obviously change based on how receptive the tumor is to treatment. Once the cancer is dealt with, the oncologist has recommended she removes her ovaries and/or uterus as well to avoid her risk of ovarian cancer from the BRCA gene. 
As you can imagine, not only has this been a trying time emotionally and mentally but has also been a financial burden. Over the last month since receiving the prognosis, she has spent around $15,000 between doctors appointments, surgeries, biopsies, egg freezing and all the meds involved in the process. She has even opened an extra credit card to cover some of the costs. And this is just the beginning...
I would like to help raise money to help cover her medical costs, food, and rent. Though she is still able to work here and there, for now, there will be a point where she will need to take a leave of absence to recover from surgery where she will no longer be making her salary.
