I need to shorten this book. So I am bullet pointing it out.
- I was taking care of my Dad with Dementia and still caring for Andy, my brother with Down Syndrome.
- Andy has had 4 ER surgeries in 3 years and another ER visit in March of this year.
- After Andy’s 3rd surgery, my wife suddenly came to me and said she could not handle all of it any longer. She left and Andy went in for another surgery as Dad’s dementia worsened. Both required bathing, clean up, 24/7 care.
- We were in the tornado back on Dec 16 2015. Insurance companies, Contractors, Mortgage Companies, Banks, ALL took advantage of around 50 families in Rowlett alone. We lost 90% of everything we had including our house of almost 10 years. The $5000 I was paying for Home Owners Insurance did not see us made whole as the commercials for Liberty Mutual promise. I have to change the channel when I see one. Ha-ha
- My Dad passed away from pneumonia after Insurance refused to put us up somewhere. We went without electricity for several days and stayed warm with candles.
- My health has deteriorated fast. I already suffered from Severe Chronic back, hip, shoulder issues. I had a failed fusion surgery that has plagued me for years. Diabetes, and now, Congestive Heart Failure. I am working with my doctors but there are days I just pray as I feel like I am not going to make it. That adds more stress.
- I am so broken right now. I was laid off after 15 years due to company going under. I worked form home and so my health, which should have come first, was put on the back burner. Dad and Andy required all of my time for care. I feel like my plate is so full that I cannot see the plate.
- I have to survive to take care of Andy. If I die and he goes to the state, he will not make it. He is a sweet soul and would not survive in that environment. I have seen it first hand and it is not acceptable.
- We are almost out of this hole. I have a Disability Hearing, working with lawyers on recovering damages from the misdeeds of others.
- We just need a little help until then. Even prescriptions are tough to buy monthly. I take over 10 daily as does Andy. Some of his are supplements for which Medicare nor Medicaid will not pay.
I tired to keep it brief. For me, this is about it. If you can help, please do so. If you can share this so others can see our story and offer their prayers and support. Prayers are just as important. Our Faith in God is strong. Otherwise we would not be here now. So please pray for us.
