Donate against hate

Hi,

My name is Kathryn Saari and I was horrified to hear about the recent attack (under investigation as a hate crime) on Amrik Singh Bal, a 68 year old farm-laborer. 

Amrik was walking to meet his ride on a Saturday morning, (a day that many of us were recovering from our holiday celebrations) when two white men drove up and started harrassing him from their truck. Amrik, a Sikh, was likely attacked for his appearance; he wore a turban and had a long beard.  As Amrik ran away, the men backed up their truck and struck him before getting out to beat him until he was left with a broken collar bone, wounds that required stiches, and an aching body. 

I cannot imagine the mental and physical anguish that Amrik (and other victims of hate crimes) face in this country at the hands of ignorant and callous human beings. Amrik was likely someone's father, and could have been my own father (also 68).  

I am hoping to raise enough money to offer a cushion of financial support for Amrik and his family during his recovery. He will not only suffer the phyisical pain of his attacks, but will also suffer loss of income as a farm laborer and likely face high medical expenses. During a season of so much giving, I am asking family, friends, and strangers to give some relief to someone who needs it. Every dollar counts, and I will give Amrik every single cent of the remaining income (with the exception of the 5% they take plus a 3% service fee that GoFundMe takes as part of their fee for using their service). I will keep track of donations and your first and last name initials so everyone is accounted for. 

Please help me fight hate with your donation. I hope to send a message to Amrik that we stand in solidarity with him & other victims of hate crimes.

3. Your relationship to the parties you're raising funds for: I am a stranger who cares about victims of hate crimes. This happened in my community, so I am trying to be proactive in giving Amrik support to offset any loss of income & to help with medical bills.
4. How the funds will be spent (be specific as possible): Every dollar donated (except for what gofundme takes for their fee) will go to Amrik Singh Bal to offset any income loss & medical expenses during his recovery from this horrific attack. 
5. How you intend to get the funds to those in need: Locate Amrik (through Sikh Council of Central California. Ike Grewal, I'm waiting for your call!). I will also need a translator for Amrik, because he does not speak English. I am hoping to give him & his family the donations from other caring strangers in-person. I would prefer to  have a witness from the Sikh Council of Central Cal or my contacts at the Fresno Bee, or Erik Rosales from KMPH to make all of my donors feel secure in knowing the funds make it to Amrik directly.
