Alyssa Wolff of Lombard, IL, sustained serious 2nd degree burns in the Glendale Heights bonfire accident that occurred this past Saturday April 28th.

http://www.mysuburbanlife.com/2018/04/30/glenbard-east-students-injured-in-glendale-heights-fire-pit-explosion/aleuzv8/

Alyssa is currently at the Loyola Medical Center Burn Unit recovering from burn injuries to her body and face.

She is a freshman at Glenbard East high school and is quite an achiever, but she will need all the help & support that we can give her to fully recover from this unfortunate accident

Any support that you can offer to her family is greatly appreciated in their time of need.

We went to our first outpatient burn appointment... The Doctors are very pleased with Alyssa’s progress thus far...

This is attributed to us doing all the Doctors tell us, face and hand exercises, face massages and Alyssa being a FIERCE young lady and getting all the burnt skin off, so the new skin cab breathe and grow!!!

It is simply amazing.

We go next week to the Eye specialist to see if she will need eye surgery.

It will be 6 months to a year before all the skin isn’t pink and turns a flesh color.
This journey will be forever……

Thank you all again for the love and support of our precious girl... xoxo

Love Dawn

We are home alone for our first time ... Alyssa has just been AMAZING !

Our days consist of keeping Alyssa comfortable. she does not have much of an appetite, but we REALLY APPRECIATE ALL THE MEALS!!!!

She loves strawberry smoothies, Starbucks pink drinks, watermelon and yogurts. The swelling and burns to her lips are healing nicely so meeting is much easier these days.

She also enjoyed some Portillo’s Beef and their Coleslaw!!!

We have to shower every day, and this is the worst part of our day. Pain meds an hour before and then the amazing part happens, she scrubs all the dead burnt skin off with warm soapy water on a wash cloth. the pain gets so intense she must take breaks and breathe through the pain ... It makes her sick to her stomach and she feels like she will pass out, so we put a chair in the shower ...

When she is done we have to get all her open wounds covered with the meds as fast as possible... her left hand is all open wounds, as well as her right wrist, left ankle and her face.

Once we get all the dressings on she feels so much better ...

She has enjoyed seeing her friends, but we also must worry about infection...

Alyssa doesn’t want anyone to be sad!! She just wants to have her normal life back... she says we can’t change what happened and we just must heal and be happy

Thank you again for all the love, prayers and support... I cannot express my feelings!

Love,
Dawn

Hi Everyone,

Alyssa came home last night on 5/3/18 !!!!

While she still has severe burns on her face, hands and legs, she is strong enough to come home and start the healing process.

The burns on her hands didn’t manifest themselves until Wednesday and then the cleaning and healing process began, she is still very sore and in a lot of pain, but Alyssa is in greats spirits !

She was an amazing patient. She had to know everyone’s name that cared for her, they had to hold her hand and sit next to her, so she could see their face.

While Alyssa’s road to recovery as a burn survivor is not over, we are blessed that she is healing physically and was able to come home.

She “wants her normal life back “

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the love and support!!! Words cannot express our gratitude.

We continue to feel all the love and prayer
