Alfredo Rodriguez Memorial Fund

On June 20th, 2015, Alfredo Rodriguez was tragically hit by a speeding vehicle as he was getting off the bus at 67th Street & Collins Avenue. He ultimately passed away from his injuries a few hours later.

Alfredo was an amazing father to his 16 year old son Ezequiel, 10 year old daughter Jessica and husband to Estellita whom have been together for over 25 years. The children are emotionally distraught over the passing of their father.

A native from Uruguay, Rodriguez traveled to this country with his wife Estellita in hopes for the American Dream. The Rodriguez family experienced many difficulties along the way. Since both Alfredo and Estellita are partially blind they cleaned restaurants at night at many South Beach restaurants to make a living.

Many times Alfredo was the sole provider for the family as Estellita would often stay at home to care for the kids due to the night time hours of their jobs. The Rodriguez family lived a humble life without government assistance.

With his sudden passing, Estellita Rodriguez is unable to keep up with the demands of taking care of her children while attempting to make a living.  Estellita and her children have no formal health insurance and she cannot attend work because she has no one able to take care of her children.  The Rodriguez family does not even have enough money for rent or basic medical needs for the children. Estellita’s eldest daughter Magali Alvarez recently joined her mother from Uruguay with her two small children Benjamin and Helen to help her emotionally during this tough time. This has also caused a financial burden since the family has limited income.

Words cannot express the pain the Rodriguez family is experiencing with the loss of Alfredo as he was their rock and his world revolved around them. This account has been established to raise funds for the Rodriguez Family for basic living expenses.

Unfortunately the case has not been resolved. The Miami Beach Police Department is looking to apprehend the individual responsible for the hit and run who shamelessly struck Alfredo and then threw him off his vehicle as he sped away without rendering any help.

Many of you in the community have expressed an interest in making a donation for the family we have set up an account and if you wish to make a donation please do. No contribution is too small. Please continue to keep all those involved in your thoughts and prayers.
