June 27th many of our lives changed forever . We watched our peer, friend, loved one and partner be brutally attacked and sustain an injury that will undoubtedly take months to fully heal.

Alex's savage will to survive and refusal to accept the hand he had been dealt no doubt was instrumental in saving his own life that day, along with the quick response of his partners who he's closely worked side by side.

Although only a four year veteran, Alex shows a dedication to the citizens of Sacramento County that they can be proud of. On June 27th, he almost paid the ultimate price for that dedication.

I sit here writing this still in shock of the incident and events that unfolded that day. How could something so horrific, so tragic, so senseless, happen to somebody like Alex. Our Alex.

In the coming months Alex's family will need our support more than ever.

Alex was the victim of the worst humanity has to offer, now let's show him the best.

Support Alex in his time of need. We love you buddy. Our Alex.

I've been a partner with Alex for the past two years in Regional Transit Police Services. He's a solid deputy and close friend. A partner you want by your side.

We hope that the money raised can be used in any way necessary, given the long road to recovery that awaits him. Alex should now be able to focus on his family and loved ones, not having to worry about any financial responsibilities that arise and deter from them.

6-30-17 UPDATE

From Alex wife.

Alex and I would first like to thank each and every one of you for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers over the past 3 days. We are so lucky to have such an amazing support system!

Alex had his first surgery to stop the bleeding on Tuesday night when he came to the hospital. Come Wednesday afternoon, he was using a white board to communicate with us (his sense of humor is still there!) and even took a walk down the hall and back. Yesterday he continued to amaze us with moving about and even taking a short walk outside! Today, Alex will be having his next surgery to reconstruct his jaw. We are feeling really positive and have the utmost faith in the team of doctors and nurses who are caring for him. I can't say enough good things about them!

Many of you have asked what you can do for us and after thinking about it last night I have a few requests. First off, please continue to pray for Alex. While he has made huge strides in a short amount of time, we still have a very long road ahead of us. My second request is I'd like to keep visits to a minimum through the weekend. I know he's been texting and telling you guys to "come on by!" but there is a very noticeable difference when he gets rest!

We really can't thank you all enough for everything. Seriously. We couldn't get through this without you guys!

All of our love & gratitude,
Ellyse & Alex

6-29-17 UPDATE

From Alex.

Hey y'all. Words cannot begin to describe how overwhelming your support has been. It was an amazing job by all who participated in the apprehension of Tuesday's suspect and from the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you all for doing what you've been trained to do. Running towards the threat, where/when everyone else is running away from it. The outpouring support and grace has truly been inspiring to me and I am so thankful to have a family, both work and blood family, that will drop everything at a moments notice. The hospital staff has been nothing but spectacular also. Thank you all for the visits, the gifts, the donations, and the kind words that are so encouraging and motivating.

P.S. Getting shot in the dome piece sucks!
