Three weeks ago, we got the news that Aiden (18 mos old) might have a Wilms Tumor. This is what New England Patriots' Nate Solders son is also suffering from.
He successfully had his kidney removed, and while recovering from surgery, it was found that it was not actually Wilms, but a more rare form of cancer called “Malignant Rhabdoid Tumor “, or MRT for short. ( http://www.dana-farber.org/Health-Library/Childhood-Rhabdoid-Tumor.aspx) MRT is is an EXTREMELY aggressive, rare form of kidney cancer that usually effects babies and toddlers.
Aaron is a 3 time Combat War Veteran in the US Army. He is a hard worker at his full time job, serves on our Fire Department, and is still an active soldier in the National Guard. He and his wife married later in life, and after many years of trying, finally conceived their only child, Aiden. Aiden’s’ life is a miracle, and this diagnosis is devastating.
Last month, before Aiden’s symptoms appeared, they put a deposit on their first family home. They are supposed to be closing at the end of November, but now have other things to worry about. Our whole department has stepped up to fix up, clean, paint and move them into their new house once everything has gone through. We are all cooking for them, and supporting them in any way possible. We are currently selling Aiden's Army shirts, wristbands and pins to help the Los family. This fundraiser will be held until the products sell out. We have them or can order them through the East Brookfield Fire Dept, (508) 867-3124
As of December 1st, Aiden is currently undergoing both Chemotherapy and Radiation. Aaron and his wife Chrissy will possibly be staying at the Ronald McDonald house (when a room is available) while Aiden goes through chemotherapy and radiation. Its going to be a long, slow process. Unfortunately, Aaron will be missing work and still need to pay for rent, a new mortgage, and all of the household bills, gas to get to and from Boston, hotels as needed, food and other daily necesseties.
The East Brookfield Fire Dept is committed to helping "our" family, and pray that you will find it in your heart to help as well. Monetary donations would be great, but we also understand that it can be tough during the holiday season. Prayers are also accepted!! Please share this with everyone you know. Our little guy needs all of the help he can get!

Hello - I am trying to reach out to offer this family some help as far as doctors, and support while they are in town. I am originally from the Central Mass area (Millbury), am a cancer survivor myself, and I now live and work in Boston. I work at a Genomics Research Institute in Cambridge. PHDs and Post Docs collaborate here and work on any disease which is genome related (Cancer is a big one). Not only can I connect you with doctors at DFCI, MGH, Sloan Kettering, MD Anderson, etc.. I would like to help in any way while you are in town. Meals, parking, gas, etc all add up. I live in Somerville, very close to the hospitals. I can offer rides, meals, and a place to stay if need be. Please contact me! Thanks!
Aaron and Chrissy, my heart and prayers go out not only to your lil man but you both. I pray that you both find peace through these trying upcoming months. Aaron if your son is anything like you, he's going to laugh in the face of danger. You were always an amazing friend and man. Bless your lil man and your family...
Thank you for the updates. I really appreciate that you keep us updated. I don't know you but I went through cancer treatment last year and I just can't imagine what it must be like to watch your precious little child go through this. You seem remarkably strong and he is very lucky to have you helping him as he fights this battle.
Found Aiden's gofundme page last night. I have a nephew 15 months just diagnosed with MRT. Their diagnosis is so similar. Promising to pray for Aiden and his Mom and Dan as they walk this road. My nephew's name is Kaiden. Fight on little one.
