Service Dog For Addyson

Donation protected
Friends that are following and have already donated... thank you so much, I need to clarify. I previously posted a picture of my beautiful girl with a grown service dog. This was not her dog, this was a visit to the nonprofit raising her dog, who had many dogs on hand, in various stages of training, and we snapped a picture with one. Her dog is named PadFoot and arrived as a baby at the beginning of June to the training facility. He will be trained for several, several more months. Addy does not have a dog at home.

We have a really long way to go financially, and many, many more months of training before her dog comes. By donating, You are directly putting funds into account which writes the checks to the nonprofit for training and veterinary care of this dog. She really needs this! The training cost of the service dog is $1800 per month, and this is why we are fundraising, please read the story and help this amazing little girl!

My 6 year old daughter has been diagnosed several neurological disorders which impact her daily life and the way she sees and interacts with the world. Her issues and diagnoses include, sensory processing and auditory processing disorder‘s, anxiety, autism, ADHD, compulsive and chronic motor and vocal tics, and more. What all of that means in short is that Addyson can have severe meltdowns when she is overwhelmed for example in a store or school setting, Sensory issues which prevent her From eating food because it feels wrong to her body and her pallet. She obsessively pics at her belly button and ears which cause additional medical problems. She doesn’t relate well to other six-year-olds or peers, and suffers from many social issues which derive from the diagnosis.

She’s a really special kid was some pretty specific special needs and has an opportunity to bring this awesome animal to her home which would help her immensely. It is abundantly clear (by her pediatrician and every other professional from occupational therapist to medical therapist that works with her every single week multiple times) that having the service dog would be a life altering, positive experience and help for this sweet little girl.

While this has been a very difficult few years for her and our family, we have hope on the horizon! We are so thrilled that Addyson has been accepted to receive a service dog and we are fundraising to cover the approximate $15,000 cost as well as the travel we will need to do back and forth to North Carolina to train with the dog over the next 18 months.

Any extra money we raise will go towards veterinary care as well as insurance for the animal to ensure a long and loving partnership with Addyson.  As a single mother with two children; weekly therapy, high cost medications as well as continual testing and medical costs, our family does not have the funds available to pay for the service dog ourselves.

This service dog is trained specifically for Addyson’s needs, and specific to her issues. For example, the dog can be trained to follow my commands to intervene when Addyson begins "stimming" or self harming behaviors. The dog will redirect her to pet the animal instead of harm herself. The dog will interact with her to directly interrupt or stop violent meltdowns. The dog will apply the deep pressure was just so incredibly beneficial and therapeutic to kids like her.

Addyson is the most loving child I have ever met. She has been through more than any 6-year-old should, and is having a difficult time navigating the world. She sees the world in a different way than others, and that is okay.  We have hope and optimism for the first time in a while. It is an awesome feeling to have back in our lives. As a mom, I want to give her every tool I can to help her navigate through her life. Our family thanks you for taking the time to read this, and if you choose to donate, we thank you in advance. You are helping to change the life of a very special little girl.  We will continue to post updates throughout this process.

Thank you!
