Adan has a final WISH!
Adan is a 20 year old boy born with a terminal illness that goes by the name Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Since day one he has been fighting for his life, to have a chance to live a normal life. With difficulty Adan has made it this far, he is quite a fighter and has a strong will to live. Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy increases quickly and has limit Adan his whole life with daily activities, he’s in a stage where he needs total care he is not able to do nothing on his own.
Adan’s health quickly declined at the age of 15 years Doctors suggested with urgency for Adan to have a Tracheostomy procedure and be placed on a Ventilator due to respiratory problems, which led to a G-tube for nutrients and medication. A month later he was discharged from UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center he was placed in a Nursing Home for pediatrics, after that things were never the same.
It has been 5 very long years since he lived at home with us, every single day he asks when is he coming home. Throughout these years we have learned how to care for him we have been there without missing a day. We have successfully completed cardiopulmonary resuscitation, respiratory and nursing classes. Training involves changing both a trach and G-tube, suctioning via trachea mouth and nose, placement of trach and G-tube give breathing treatments, cough assist and administer medication or feeding via G-tube. Adan will be 21 in July and will considered an adult meaning he can be placed in a convalescent home for adults. Our goal is to bring him to a loving home where he belongs, that is why we have taken the proper requirement and have been involved hands on with Adan’s care. These years have served for the good and have let us prepare ourselves mentally and financially. Adan has a wish and that wish is for him to be at home with us, we are closer to our goal still due to our low income and my mom being a single parent it’s tough to save up enough money and move out at once from our current home we barely make it through each day. It is for this reason that we humbly ask for your financial help any donations of any amount will be greatly appreciated, our first goal is to move in a bigger place where Adan will live fulfilling his wish is our priority. These funds are for multiple purposes they will help cover any medical bills, medication and medical equipment that Medi-Cal might deny in the near future as well for a transportation van. Your donations will also cover future burial now that Adan is in the last stage of (DMD) it can give it’s final strike at any given moment and take Adan’s life, something our hearts cannot accept but we want to be prepared financially when that day comes when we have to say goodbye to our greatest joy..
