We had a wonderful courtship that sailed smoothly along with plenty of resources to plan our wedding until the dam burst.
Actually, a pipe.
The cold snap Jan. 2 left a pipe broken on the third-floor of the condominum complex my fiance Julie lives in with her cat Buddy.
I was cat-sitting in the first-floor condo she rents when the water started coming in and flowed out of electrical outlets. Glad the power was already off.
The cat shook the water off his paws and jumped to the couch.
I played Sorceror's Apprentice and tried to start mopping up the ever-growing flood.
So in short, after the flood came a flood of bills.
Then my fiance's car decided to go to car heaven at the end of February. Guess the winter proved too much for the trusty 1998 Honda Accord.
She replaced it with a used Ford Fusion.
March 19, there was an auto accident. Bumps and bruises to Julie and damage to the Ford Fusion.
Six weeks out from the wedding as I write this we are trying to raise funds for festivities and the honeymoon following.
This was my idea to crowdfund and crowdsource to find destinations and dinero. I favor the Grand Canyon, but please share any reasonable destinations keeping in mind we do not have passports.
Should Elon Musk or Sir Richard Branson be reading, we are open to off-planet adventures as well. We just have to arrange for a sitter for both my fiance's cat and my daughter, 12, who is busy learning how to write Ruby and Python coding.
